Episode 62 ~ Shane Dowd ~ Got Range of Motion? Fix Injuries & Get Flexible
Check out this episode where Shane and I discuss his passion for blending yoga and stretching exercises w/ strength training and stabilization techniques. All this in conjunction with targeted self massage work serving as a foundation for healing injuries. DON'T MISS THIS EPISODE!
About Shane:
👋 Hi! I'm Shane Dowd, CEO, and founder of GotROM.com.
I help people fix injuries, get flexible & move mindfully.
I am a Certified Massage Practitioner (CMP), Strength & Conditioning Coach, and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES).
But more importantly...
👉 In 2011 I had lots of pain and zero flexibility:
It all started when, in 2010, after suffering a traumatic back injury, due to an underlying hip condition called femoroacetabular impingement, I started intensively studying various healing modalities (PNF stretching, Joint Mobility, Yoga, Meditation/Mindfulness, Massage, Chiropractic, Physical therapy, etc) to learn how to heal and optimize the functioning of the athletic body, and in 2013 I began teaching my system and methods to thousands of athletes who have benefited from this unique approach.
I am the creator / co-creator of the "TSR System" which powers over 16 popular online programs, including The FAI Fix, which are helping thousands of people around the world fix pain, correct posture, and improve their flexibility & mobility.

Check out this inspirational discussion I had with Tom Kelly. Tom is such a gifted and heart centered yoga teacher and spiritual counselor. My wife and I had the great privilege of having Rev. Tom serve as our officiant at our wedding and it is wonderful honor to bring him here to you.
Visit Tom's at his website: loveforcerevolution.com
About Tom:
Tom Kelly, was born in Los Angeles, California, on April 6, 1950. As a child, Tom was naturally devotional, serving as an altar boy at his family church. While attending college at the University of California in Santa Barbara, Tom developed a deep yearning within his heart and soul to make a more intimate connection with God.
After earning his B.A. in Anthropology and Religious Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara, at the age of 24, Tom entered the monastic life at the Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF). Founded by Paramahansa Yogananda in southern California, SRF- is an international, non-profit, religious organization that has roots that trace back to the ancient lineage of Swamis from India.
After taking vows of simplicity, chastity, obedience, and loyalty, Tom spent the next 25 years engaged in rigorous spiritual training as a deeply devoted raja yoga monk practicing meditation and humanitarian service on a daily basis, specializing in ministry, team building and motivational speaking.
In the fall of 1999, after joyfully living and serving for 25 years as a monk in the Self-Realization Fellowship Order, Tom felt ready to embark on a new adventure in his life. Filled with inspiration and the assurance from the Divine, Tom left the monastic life and re-entered the secular world, in order to expand his life learning, as well as share the fruits of his self-transformation and direct experience of Yoga with all.
As an ordained minister and certified yoga teacher with over 30 years of experience in spiritual and personal growth development, Reverend Tom has traveled around the world to carry the message of the Sacred Art of Raja Yoga.
Tom’s passion for communicating the joy of spiritual living is highly contagious. Tom serves from an open heart with the sole intention of opening hearts and minds to seeing the truth of love within and all around us.

1. Learning anatomical alignment and how to sense when you have it is the foundation of a practice that is safe for your joints.
2. The most important thing missing from yoga teaching is teaching students how to find and sustain stability.
3. In practice - Stability comes first, extension of the limbs to create length and space is second, building range of motion
4. Mind/ body connection
5. Why lying flat is helpful for relieving and understanding back pain. using the pelvic clock face as an alignment tool.
6. The importance of the psoas muscle and finding vertical.
and more.....

Brian Miller ~ Inspiration, Yoga & Superfood Talk
Join a conversation I had with Brian Miller. Brian is a talented and dedicated yoga practitioner and teacher who travels and teaches internationally. He is an inspiration to the yoga community and we are excited to share this conversation about his journey with you.
Visit Brian on IG @brianmilleryoga
and at check out his superfood company website at karmavoresuperfoods.com
Brian's Bio:
Brian came to yoga from a business and law background. After over 15 years of fitness and boxing experience, Brian tried yoga and was awed by the metamorphosis he experienced and continues to experience through his yoga practice. Brian truly believes that the practice of yoga can inspire both mental and physical transformation through the development of strength, balance, flexibility, focus, stamina and body awareness — enabling each of us to tap into our true inner potential.
Inspired by the profound impact the practice has had on his life, Brian is eager to share his passion for yoga. After owning a studio at home in Montreal, Canada, Brian began teaching online, assisting practitioners of all levels in deepening their practice. Brian’s online presence has been repeatedly featured by Instagram and various websites and blogs as one of the top yoga accounts on Instagram. Brian works with private individuals and professional athletes and has travelled the world teaching workshops, retreats and intensive yoga teacher trainings. Back home in Montreal, unable to travel with all the limitations due to the Covid pandemic, Brian recently started working as legal and contracts manager for IQVIA, a major player in the health care industry. Brian also runs a superfood-based health food company by the name of Karmavore Superfoods, which he started in 2014 as a passion project and has grown into a thriving business with widespread distribution.
In achieving his advanced personal practice, Brian recognizes and demonstrates that anything is possible. One of Brian’s favourite quotes by Sri T. Krishnamacharya affirms that, “yoga makes the impossible possible, and the possible easy”. Brian believes that many of yoga’s benefits come from persisting through the ‘impossibilities’ and challenges we are all confronted with throughout our lives both on and off the mat. The transformative power of yoga comes from the reprogramming of pre-established mental pathways and thought processes, thereby allowing us to overcome beliefs deeply rooted within our psyches. Confronting deeply held beliefs about ourselves liberates us from their limiting effects and unleashes the practitioner’s true potential. It is through this philosophy, coupled with varied experience and extensive training, that Brian develops classes that are accessible to all levels of students, with the goal of helping to deepen their practice and discover the truly transformative magic of yoga. Off the mat, Brian uses the philosophy and lessons he has learned through yoga to approach his daily life and whatever challenges comes with it.

Join Sean Gray for this episode titled ~ Riding Waves of Unconditional Love. Sean has a passion for practicing and teaching yoga and during this discussion he explains how yoga practice has transformed his life and brought him to the" truth of the matter."
Sean's bio: My teaching is grounded in experience. It is guided from the heart. It is expansion. It is transformation. I take my students to the edge physically, energetically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually - whether that be in one my rocking public classes, intimate private sessions, transformative retreats, or online classes. My teaching is much more than just physical, I weave in the subtle layers of yoga, such as the Chakras, Eight Limbs, Meditation, Shadow Work, Philosophy, and Kleshas while making it relatable to any practitioner, even in an - I will admit it - annoyingly funny way. Expect to be challenged on all levels, but with that, expect to break your limitations. Read more here.
