Tony Armstrong is the most talked-about new talent in the television industry right now. Everyone is talking about him. Every media company wanted to sign him. And if you don’t know who Tony is yet, you will soon.
Tony is a proud Barranbinya man. He was raised by a single mum in Sydney’s West, and he started playing AFL at a young age. He made it all the way to the top. Sort of.
He played for the Adelaide Crows, Sydney Swans and Collingwood, and after 7 years playing footy and only 35 games over that time, Tony walked away from AFL. He failed. And he’ll be the first person to tell you that.
THE END BITS:
With thanks to Tony Armstrong.

The story of Britney Spears is one we’re guessing you’re familiar with. Child star from a small town makes it big in the city, only to grow up in front of the cameras, turn into a pop icon and then breaks down from the pressure and becomes tabloid fodder.
So what actually happened to Britney Spears?
Pandora Sykes is a British journalist and the host of BBC4’s new audio documentary series, Pieces Of Britney. In this series, she pieces together what we know about her story, and what it tells us about sex, entertainment, and how we treat women in the public eye. And she joins Mia today to talk about it...

No matter how much you know or care about gymnastics, you couldn’t have escaped the story of Simone Biles during the Tokyo Olympics.
Every four years, we watch these young women flipping and flying high in the air in their sparkly leotards, and we seem to forget about the expectations they have riding on their shoulders, and how incredibly dangerous what they do is. The sheer physicality of their sport is amazing, but it’s also a lot. And this is something that Australia’s Olivia Vivian knows all about.
She started in the sport when she was just eight years old. She represented Australia at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and later became a household name on the hit show Ninja Warrior. On this episode of No Filter Olivia sits down with Mia to talk about what life as an elite gymnast is actually like…

You might know Jock Zonfrillo as the Scottish judge who wears a three-piece suit on Australia’s Masterchef. But what you might not know about Jock, is that his life story is quite simply, incredible. He’s an open book, and in this chat, he gets very vulnerable about his experiences with heroin addiction, homelessness, his three marriages, his deep passion for the culture and ingredients of first nations people, and so much more. This is Jock Zonfrillo and his remarkable story.

Being a teenager has changed. A lot. There’s TikTok, vaping, dick pics, snap chat maps...and all the things that were once thought as fixed - like gender and identity - are fluid and open to interpretation.
Dr Ginni Mansberg and clinical psychologist Jo Lamble have over 20 years experience as clinicians and parents. They know first hand what concerns parents today about raising adolescents, and they see it daily in their practices.
So they’ve written a book about it called The New Teen Age. Because that’s exactly what it is. And they join Mia now to talk about it…

Hugh van Cuylenberg’s job is to teach resilience. He was a primary school teacher volunteering in Northern India when he had a life-changing realisation. Despite the underprivileged community, the children were from, they were remarkably positive. But back in Australia? Well, people found it hard to be happy and they had so much.
Which is how The Resilience Project came to life. He learned that there are three key traits and behaviours that are the keys to resilience. And now he teaches it to others at conferences, in his podcast, The Imperfects, and in his book called The Resilience Project.
So if you’re feeling a bit shit right now - or you’ve ever felt a bit shit - this one is for you.

Today, you’re going to hear a story about a family. A family just like half a million other families around Australia. A family with two people in it who have an intellectual disability. This interview nearly didn’t happen, and it’s really important that you know why. A few weeks ago, Mia had her first Covid-19 vaccination and marked the occasion with a selfie she posted on Instagram. She mentioned how excited she was to be vaccinated, the wonderful experience she had at the mass vaccination hub she attended, and how lucky she felt to get her jab. But a day or two later, the abuse began...
In the first part of this episode, Mia talks to Jane Hansen, a journalist who has reported on the toxic, dangerous anti-vax movement for more than a decade. And in part two, Mia speaks with Professor Mary Louise McLaws, an epidemiologist with expertise in hospital infection and infectious diseases control, and member of the World Health Organization (WHO), who answers all your questions about the Covid-19 vaccine.
THE END BITS:
With thanks to Jane Hansen. Big Shots: Anti-Vaxxers Exposed is available to watch on Foxtel.
