In this episode, we talk with Einat Nathan, a parenting expert, counselor, and author from Israel. Her first book Haimsheli, was a bestseller across all categories in Israel, making her a national celebrity. The book resonated because mothers read it, cried and smiled, and discovered a way to look at their children as independent people, not solely as an extension of who they are or as a calling card. Einat helps parents with a fresh approach to parenting and is the parent to 5 teenagers. Her book My Everything, was recently translated into English.
We discuss the difference in parenting expectations in the US versus Israel, how the way our parents raised us affected our thoughts on parenting and what pressures we face as parents in this digital age.

When we over-parent and rescue all the time, we're depriving our kids from living. Life is truly an active verb. And when we focus on making things easier in the short term, we deprive our kids of the skills they need for the long haul.
In this episode we speak with Julie Lythcott-Haims who is the New York Times bestselling author of the anti-helicopter parenting manifesto How to Raise an Adult, Real American, and her newest book, Your Turn: How to Be an Adult. Julie believes in humans and is deeply interested in what gets in our way.
She shares with us how parents can sometimes get focused on the short term gains and lose sight of those long haul parenting goals. And in the end, it’s our kids who pay the price. We some of our best “Oh crap! I’m an adult now” moments and how we found strength in them, just as our kids will!

In this episode, we share 4 ways to work past that guilt and learn to ask for what you actually want- guilt free! Because like we always say- the best mom is a happy mom!

What if we told you that we can live better, happier, and simpler lives by making a few adjustments to how we think about self-care? Would you try it?
In this episode, we are talking with Dr.Christine Koh. She’s a music and brain scientist turned multimedia creative! She spent a decade in academia, during which time she was awarded prestigious fellowships from the National Institutes of Health to fund her Ph.D. research at Queen’s University and joint-appointment postdoctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and the Massachusetts Institutes of Technology. Christine was about to become a professor when she decided to hang up her academic spurs in favor of more flexible and independent ventures.
We discuss what so many of us view “protective self-care” as and what it really needs to be to actually benefit us in the long run. Christine also shares with us her breakdown of Self-Care into two distinct parts: Protective Care and Restorative Care. And how they relate to boundaries, toxic relationships, taking a “pause”, and really overall -how we care for ourselves.

You’ve heard us talk about “back in times of B.C.” (Before Children) and how life worked differently then. One of those things that worked differently were friendships (for many of us). We had school, or work, or outside hobbies where we could meet people with similar interests. But when you become a mom, some of us are cut off from those outside things and we struggle trying to make those friendships going forward. And the truth is that mom friends are absolutely essential to your journey through parenthood!
Well, no need to fear, we’ve got 3 tips on how to make (and keep) those mommy friendships going strong!

So many moms worry about whether or not we are giving enough attention to our kids, especially when they outnumber you! We feel guilty for spending what may seem like a lot of time with one child and not enough with the other.
But is that really happening?
Are we really giving some of our kids (often the younger ones) the raw end of the deal?
In this episode we talk with Lynn Berger, a writer and journalist in the Netherlands, covering care, and author. As the care correspondent for online journalism platform De Correspondent, she writes about the various forms care can take, what it does for us, and what we need in order to take good care. Lynn took her thoughts and experiences of being a second child, combined them with her own thoughts as she prepared to, and had her second child, and rounded it all out with what the research says on the subject and put it together in her book, Second Thoughts: On Having and Being a Second Child.
JoAnn, Brie, and Lynn talk about their own experiences both as children with siblings and with their own children and the guilt that we face trying to give each child what feels like is never enough time.

She is the author of two best-selling parenting books: If I Have to Tell You ONE MORE TIME and The "Me, Me, Me" Epidemic. She has two adult sons (age 24 and 22). Amy helps moms and dads become the parents they've always wanted to be.
We discuss with Amy how parents can identify what the real issue is causing their parenting struggles and how to best get on the same page and become a united front.

Why do we as moms feel like it’s our job to plan everything ALL THE TIME?
