World's Toughest Mudder is almost upon us ... which is a very strange thing to say in June since it has always been in either December or November!

I met Wil Chung last year at WTM and discussed having him on the show to talk about the venue of Belvoir Castle since he has had a lot of experience there as a prominent member of the European TM community! I also wanted to have Fran Chiorando on as well since she lives with an American and is hyper aware of cultural differences and knows about my interest in trying new snacks!

We talk about cultural differences, some slang, travel tips, touristy things to do, food and snacks to try, obstacle differences, updates in the recently distributed information pack, and some information about this year's venue, Belvoir Castle!

We have heard about "Chainsaw Rick" for years but our paths had never crossed before with him mainly racing down south and us primarily running and covering the north. Between him dominating Hildervat podiums and his recent cancer diagnosis, we figured that we should go out of our way to change that!

We discuss the reason for his nickname, how he found the sport of OCR, his favorite moments in the sport, how Hildervat has changed over the years, his support of Lionhearts Fitness and the importance of their work, how he is handling his cancer diagnosis and much more!

If you're in the area, consider checking out the Hildervat weekend being done in his honor on June 14th and 15th and/or support the fundraiser for Rick's medical bills which was put together by Shell Luccketta!

We have done OCR eulogy episodes in the past but never a eulogy episode on OCR podcasts!

Mike used his first hand experience, Podchaser, and his own podcast app to find as many podcasts as he could find whether dead or alive. He compiled the show names, descriptions, hosts, how many episodes released, date range of the show, and personal thoughts and experiences where applicable!

There are well over 50 OCR podcasts discussed but apologies if we missed some. We are a 2 person team and this took a pretty decent amount of time to put together. See the shows mentioned in the time stamps below!

With World's Toughest Mudder coming up soon and it being both the first time the event is taking place in Europe as well as Katelyn's first time tackling the event herself, we figured it would be a good time to both selflessly and selfishly have an episode focused on first timer questions!

Josh Fiore had been answering first timer questions on the WTM First Timer facebook group so we figured that he would be a great guest due to him being knowledgeable and has shown to take time out of his day to try to help those who are preparing to take on this ultra OCR!

Josh shares his experinces and insights about training, race preparation, and how to stay positive during all 25.5 hours of World's Toughest Mudder!

We admittedly haven't had any episodes covering the US Spartan National so far this year so we looked at the third of four series races which took place in Big Bear and decided to change that!

Mike first met Sabrina Buhagiar when doing finish line interviews at Spartan Citi Field last year, he saw her again preparing before we started the Spartan New Jersey Ultra last month! When he saw that she took a podium finish at a Spartan Series race he reached out to have her on the show to be a guest via an interview.

We discuss her athletic background being swimming, how she found the sport of obstacle course racing, how this and the previous two series races went for her, as well as her preparation for two Spartan Championship weekends later this year!

When Mike was preparing to run his first Spartan Ultra he reached out to some elites to see who else would be there. Joe Rucco explained that he was going to miss it in order to take on Toughest Mudder Atlanta ... well, he won it!

We have had him on the show a few times in the past ranging from hybrid racing to World's Toughest Mudder and Spartan Stadium races but we never had him on for his own episode so we reached out to change that!

You'll hear him talk about how he found the sport back in 2012, his love for both hybrid racing and OCR, how he balances his family life and training, winning Toughest Mudder Atlanta, a slight injury he recieved from a local race the weekend after, some events he has planned before World's Toughest Mudder at Belvoir Castle, and much more!

Part of being a weekly podcast and playing the role of media in a sport means that your own athletic goals need to be put more in the background (Jason Dupree doing live streams for The OCR Report, Brakken Krakker recording and producing The Running Public, Matt B Davis heading Hybrid Fitness Media, etc.). That being said, there are still a couple challenges left that Mike has been wanting to take on in the sport of OCR. One of them being wanting to try a Spartan Ultra Beast for the past 8 years, now just called the Spartan Ultra.

Katelyn wanted to do an episode interviewing Mike about his first Spartan Ultra experience, he figured that it wouldn't be nearly as interesting as him doing pit by pit coverage of her first WTM which plan to be done in June. As you can tell from the title though, he/I had my first DNF though so maybe that would be worth talking about for a bit.

We are also supplementing the episode with a reRun of our 17th episode which covered Alex taking on his first Spartan Ultra Beast at the same venue in NJ back in 2017 so it's a bit of a hybrid release!

Start – 4:33 – Intro

4:33 – 11:25 – Quick News

Next weekend we will either have an interview related to a book or we will reach out to an athlete to hear about their experience at many of the events happening around the world now that the OCR season is in full swing!
