What happens when you stop believing that you are the character you’ve been playing your entire life?
In Episode 232 of Perspective Shift, “Separate From the Character,” Frank and Mike explore the difference between who you think you are and the awareness that is experiencing it all.
We become deeply identified with the character: our name, history, relationships, fears, thoughts, accomplishments, problems, roles, and circumstances. When something happens to the character, it feels like it is happening to us.
But what if none of those things are actually who you are?
When you begin to separate from the character, you can observe thoughts without automatically believing them, experience emotions without becoming them, and watch circumstances unfold without allowing them to define you.
The character can still participate fully in life. You can love, create, experience, succeed, fail, laugh, and feel. The difference is that underneath all of it, you remember what you are.
You are the awareness experiencing the story, not the story itself.
And when that distinction begins to become clear, life can feel a lot less heavy.
