Speculation is growing as 2026 gets under way, with the economy and international concerns set to be the top issues impacting voters.

Former Minister and commentator Peter Dunne says it's unlikely any 'dramatic' new policies will be announced at Luxon's upcoming State of the Nation address, but he will need to prove himself to set the tone for the new year.

"He's got to be on his game tomorrow, and he's got to be better at his game as the year goes on. That's going to be a mighty challenge."
