Feel like you can never get things done because you're constantly stopping to put out 'fires' (hopefully figurative ones)? One of the biggest struggles I hear with the moms I work with is that they have the best intentions for their goals and their days but things, that are important, pop up and they never get to what is on their list. Here are some tips to help if this sounds like you: 1. Decide if it's REALLY urgent. A lot of things feel urgent in the moment but can very much get moved to even just tomorrow. I talk a lot about thought catcher time that helps me make sure I have space for these things that are important but not urgent (let me know if you want the link to that episode on the podcast) 2. Build in buffer time PROACTIVELY. We know that something might come up each day so add in 30 minutes of white space to your schedule so you can move things around when needed. 3. At the end of the day, look at what didn't get done because you were handling emergency tasks and ask yourself "where can I fit this in" and "does this need to get done this week". This will allow you to have a plan for those things without forgetting about them completely! We know that things come up - but when you have a plan for them, you're more likely to not let them completely derail you! Need more help creating personal growth goals? Do you struggle with that negative voice in your head? The one that tells you that you aren't good enough? You know the one - it makes you feel like nothing you do matters and that you're always going to fail. We all have a voice like that in our heads. But it's possible to flip that voice on its head and start to think more positively. it's a never-ending journey of growth but one that can really help you grow in your own love and acceptance. So what are some ways to do it? - Do an inventory --> what voices come up the most for you? when do they come up? what patterns do you notice? - Combat those negative voices with positive ones --> Start to do affirmations daily. Remind yourself of the person you know you are. Put post-it notes all over, talk to yourself, and become your biggest cheerleader - Fill up your personal growth cup --> Changing your negative thought patterns won't happen overnight and without work. Why is clutter such a struggle?! Whether it’s emotional, physical, or calendar clutter, in this episode we dive into the “WHY” behind your clutter habits, using a tool called the Enneagram. We’ll uncover some of the reasons --- why you do what you do with your clutter, according to your personality type. The enneagram is a personality test that allows you to not only pick out your strengths but also shows you your areas of weaknesses as well --- and what you can do to improve them. (or work with them 🥰 ) The enneagram is not only a great tool for your own self-awareness but it also can speak into the way you organize (or don’t organize) your home as well. Today’s guest, Laurie, has done her enneagram research, worked in the professional organization industry for years, and made connections between your personality type (from the enneagram) and the clutter pitfall you may stumble across as you work to get rid of your clutter. She says that you don’t need another blanketed “How-To'' strategy. What you need is to dive into and unwrap the motivation you have behind the things that you do in your home and with your clutter, by using the enneagram as a tool so you know where you can make your next change. So listen to today’s episode and get ready to ditch the guilt and shame of “never getting your clutter under control”. There’s nothing wrong with you. You do things a certain way because you have a certain personality type. If you have 15 minutes, I guarantee you can change your day. I love a good 15 Minute Pick Up! We do these a few times during our day to reset the house and space. Quick pick-ups also a great use of transition time to signal that it's time to switch time blocks. Here's how to add a 15 Minute Pick Up Into Your Home: >>> Pick 2-3 times a day that you want to do them. Plan these in advance! >>> Put on a 15-minute timer and some music >>> Do the pick-up! The goal of this isn't perfection. It's clearing visual space and putting things away. You can do zones of the house, focus on one room, or one item. For example, everyone can pick up the downstairs, the playroom or just go look for all the laundry in the house and bring it to the laundry room! While I suggest you plan the times in advance, I also use 15 Minute Pick Ups whenever things in the house feel out of control and I need to do a quick reset! Do a 15 Minute Pick up today and let me know!
