  • You Are More Than Your To Do List

You are more than your to-do list. We get so caught up in equating our worth and our works. That if we finish our to-do list each day, we are more important, we are more worthy or we matter more.

While I love a good to-do list - can I let you in on a little secret? You are more than your to-do list! Instead of focusing on what you don't do, can we focus on what you did do, or how you took care of yourself, or just how incredible you are in general? Yes, look over your list. Yes, be intentional with your time. But don't obsess over it.

    Instead:

    • End your day with a ta-da list
    • List out things you are proud of that day
    • Remind yourself of ways you were proactive in your life

There is nothing wrong with going after your goals or being driven. But be careful not to make productivity or busyness an idol. Be careful to not be so obsessed with the doing, that you forget about the journey. Celebrate you. You're so worth it.

  • Why We Need Connection As Moms With Kimberly Allston

The numbers are in, and studies have shown that moms haven’t made a new friend in the last 5 years. How does the word “New-Mom-Friend” make you feel?! Did you just cringe a little? Pandemic and stats aside, making a new friend and cultivating a meaningful relationship is hard. And yet we all know that real relationships are so important and needed. So, how do you find a mom friend?! How do you take the first step in making a new friend? #awkward Where do you find time to put into a new friendship? When do you give up on a friendship going nowhere? When do you keep trying? Should you even try to get out there and find that real connection? Is it really worth it? Real connections are not about putting your best face on social media. Real friendships are where you are intentionally investing in others and yourself. It's where you have a tribe of people built-in for when you need them the most. These are the questions we are talking about in today’s episode with Kimberly Allston from Real Connections Ministries. Where she shares all about creating a meaningful relationship with friends, yourself, and Jesus. Who do you want to get to know better?

  • Why Your Willpower Isn't The Problem

I don't care about your willpower. Yup. I said it. If I have to see another graphic saying your "why needs to be bigger than your excuses", I may scream. And guess what? I used to post those ALL the time. Because I believed it. I believed that if I wasn't achieving my goals, I was a failure. If I didn't hit that benchmark, I was the problem. But can I tell you something? It's not your willpower that's the problem. It's the plan. Don't get me wrong - you have choice and control over your decisions. You do not have to be a victim of your life. You have to put in hard work to achieve your goals. But your willpower isn't broken. You aren't bad. There is nothing wrong with you. You just need to adjust things to work for you. Have you tried time blocking before and struggled to make it stick? I was having the same trouble last year with my blocks when the pandemic hit.

They normally worked fine but SOMETHING was up. Yes, the entire family was home so we were adding in a lot more things and routines but this normally worked. When I went and did a time audit and figured out what was missing.

    Transition times.

When we don't build transition times into our blocks we're setting ourselves up to feel frantic and get thrown off schedule. Let's talk about how to add these in and how they'll save you time!

There are a few reasons why you may not be completing your goals as a busy mom. Perhaps you are a young mom with the littles and find that your time is non-existent. Maybe you are an empty nester and have no idea what your goals are anymore and don’t even know where to start dreaming. Maybe you are so busy with everything around you that you know you can make the goal plan but one tiny thing will upset the whole idea. Like you plan to get up an hour earlier to finally go for a run but one of the kids was up last night and then you slept in. Now, what do you do?! Sometimes with all these curve balls that get tossed in your day you think that there is no way, you can ever truly achieve your goals, and why even bother?! Well, today Cara is going to break down her method for setting goals that actually work for us, busy moms. And guess what!? It’s probably NOT what you’ve heard the goals setting - productivity gurus teach about --- this one is for the mom … because you have a special type of goal setting needs. Cara’s method for goal setting is called S.O.A.R. --- which stand for: S - Set a healthy mindset O - Organize your goals A - Action plan for success R - Routines to keep going The S.O.A.R. method helps you walk through creating a goal-setting plan that works for you. • What Do I Do When I'm Making Slow Progress

Have you ever started working on a goal, have a ton of momentum and then BAM. You get stuck.

This happens ALL the time - so don't worry if it happens to you. So often we feel guilty or like we're failing if we get stuck or make slow progress. It's not that at all.

You just need to adjust your expectations and plan. When you're making slow progress on a goal here are a few questions you can ask yourself:

    • Why do I feel like I'm making slow progress?
    • Will this slower progress push me completely off track?
    • Do I feel okay about my progress?
    • Am I still having wins, just maybe on a smaller level?
    • Are there ways to pivot this goal and action plan?

Let's chat about ways you can keep momentum and change your mindset around slower progress! FREE GOAL SETTING SERIES: https://apurposedrivenmom.com/goals A PURPOSE DRIVEN MOM SHOW NOTES: apurposedrivenmom.com/podcast116/
