Our needs grow faster than we can satisfy them. According to Sedláček our way of consuming has all the characteristics of an addiction and he asks if it isn't time we get into detox.
Tsjech (anti-)economist Tomáš Sedláček took the economic world by storm with Economics of Good and Evil. In this book he breaks with financialist thought and explains why we shouldn’t forget that economics is a cultural phenomenon. If we want to understand the financial crisis we should turn to myth, religion, philosophy and psychology, not to math.
What for example is the role of our human desire?
Sedláček writes about Pandora, who couldn't resist opening a box, and about Eve, who couldn't resist taking a bite of the apple. Thus with curiousness came longing - we are unsatisfied by nature.
Met econoom Tomáš Sedláček en filosoof Lisa Doeland.
