This episode is just me unpacking some thoughts around how in life and in business we fall into the terrible habit of trying to be all things for all people... Squeezing our square selves into round holes and when we don't quite fit, we beat ourselves up.
Sparked by a recent conversation I had I thought it might be something some of you might find interesting, hopefully valuable.

How DO people see me? How often do we ask ourselves this? For me, it seems to be every bloody day lately... But it's an area that has intrigued me, fueled my curiosity and with it developed a new level of self awareness.
So when Bobby wanted to banter about 'the games people play' I was all in for the topic (and as usual, nutting out my own psyche along the way). We consciously and unconsciously play games and 'roles' in life not only with other people but with ourselves. What's it all about? What are these games and why do we play them?

Today's guest is Kenneth Ginlack, his story literally made my eyes well with tears... Tears of empathy and tears of pride.
One moment, an early teen with a pistol in one hand and a pipe in the other... One moment a murder suspect (still a teen), committed by his friend... One moment desperate, helpless, hopeless and lost... Kenneth was one fleeting moment from making a decision that would have changed his life forever... death, murder or prison.
This conversation brought me closer than I've ever been to even beginning to understand what that set of life circumstances might feel like. But Kenneth got himself a degree in Human Services, then a Bachelors, then a Masters. All those things he thought he could never be. Those things were for people who weren't like him, from places he wasn't from. Now appointed Director of multiple Outpatient Programs as a Psychotherapist and CEO of Serenity Inns, an organisation for addiction recovery. Kenneth is the first Black man to hold these positions in such organisations.I can't wait to share this episode.
This conversation was like watching a Netflix movie that I had to keep reminding myself was real life. We forget how privileged we are. We forget how different the world is for those who aren't living in ours. We forget how powerful people can be when they are shown compassion, love and an even playing field.

My guest today is the esteemed Dr. Paul Conti who is a graduate of Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed his psychiatry training at Stanford and at Harvard, where he was appointed Chief Resident.. Dr Conti's life-changing trauma work has earned him a few raving fans that you might just be familiar with such as Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga and Tommy Hilfiger.
So yeah, Doc is kind of a big deal and I am thrilled to be bringing this conversation to you today… Enjoy!

Ever wish you could just flick a switch and get people to like you? Well, it's your lucky day... this is Dr. Jack Schafer's wheelhouse and he's spilling the beans over here at RWTP HQ.
As a former FBI Special Agent Agent. Dr. Schafer spent fifteen years conducting counter-intelligence and counterterrorism investigations, and seven years as a behavioral analyst for the FBI’s National Security Division’s Behavioral Analysis Program. He developed spy recruitment techniques, interviewed terrorists, and trained agents in the art of interrogation and persuasion.
This experience has given Dr. Schafer a particular set of expertise around human behaviour and communication that will have you people watching for hours to see what you can see. Seriously, imagine if we were all aware of what we were being told beneath just the words people are using with us!
You can find more of Doc's contributions via online pieces for Psychology Today Magazine, and get your hands on any of his six authored and co-authored books.

Bobby and I talk about all things failure this week. Is it such a bad thing? Is failing really the problem or is our story about failing the problem. Shouldn't we be chasing failure? Doesn't every success story start with failure? And how much failure is too much failure?

Joe Williams is a proud Wiradjuri/Wolgalu, First Nations Aboriginal man born in Cowra, raised in Wagga NSW, Australia. Joe played in the National Rugby League for South Sydney Rabbitohs, Penrith Panthers and Canterbury Bulldogs before switching Joe to professional Boxing in 2009. Joe is a 2x WBF World Jnr Welterweight champion and won an WBC Asia Continental Title.
Although forging a successful professional sporting career, Joe battled the majority of his life with suicidal ideation and Bi Polar Disorder. After a suicide attempt in 2012, Joe felt his purpose was to help people who struggle with mental illness.
I absolutely loved this raw and honest conversation with Joe, he's straight to one of my favourite episodes and I know you're going to have some mic drop moments listening in.

Well, as you’re about to hear I adored being immersed in this conversation with today’s guest Dean Mighell. Dean is someone who, like so many of us, as an adult came face to face with some of his own confronting mental health challenges. Today we meander through a conversation around sweeping trauma & PTSI under the rug and trying to just get on with life for way too long. About the innate joy, healing and connection that Dean (and myself as a teenager) discovered in horses and of course the incredible work that Deans foundation Path Of The Horse is doing as a result of his own experience.
I think you’re going to love this chat, but then again I'm pretty bias :)

It's often relevant to talk about burnout after December. Waving farewell to a year can be a brutal task as we haul across the finish line meeting numerous demands placed on us (by us and others).
I throw some of my own experiences, experiments, ideas and philosophies on the table as does our wise friend Bobby to make what I think to be a pretty damn useful conversation.
I hope I'm right... enjoy!

Roll With The Punches is where we step into the ring and go toe to toe with the hard sh*t life throws our way.
Hosted by former boxing champ turned strength coach and speaker Tiff Cook, RWTP brings you big conversations with world-class guests about psychology, relationships, trauma, the brain, and the patterns that can make a bloody mess of our lives.
If you're curious about human behaviour, keen to challenge the stories you tell yourself, and want to understand why the hell you do what you do, you're in the right place. Tune in. Tiff's in your corner.
The goal? To question what you've always believed, understand yourself a little better, and turn those aha moments into actual change.
Because knowing better and doing better are two very different things.
And let's be honest... life's gonna keep throwing punches. We may as well learn how to roll with them.
