I’m very excited to have my good friend and colleague, Dr. Frances Southwick as my guest today as we will be talking about everything about trauma and how to deal with it.

Dr. Southwick is an osteopathic family physician and nonfiction writer practicing family medicine with interests in osteopathic manipulative medicine, trauma, care for the queer community, and substance use disorders in California's central valley.

During her intern year, Dr. Southwick suffered a major depressive episode. Writing the book helped her to evaluate her emotions and chart her journey. Dr. Southwick has published two academic-memoir hybrid books, "Prognosis: Poor" (2015) and "Prognosis: Fair" (2021), and now offers validation, hope, and peace to those in similar circumstances.
