Learning how to lean in, learning how to open and that's actually what leaning in means to me. I want to invite you to inquire what leaning in means to you.

And really think and ask yourself, am I leaning into my life right now? Am I leaning into my partner, am I leaning into my work, am I leaning into my children? Or are you doing the opposite, which is resisting? So I want you to think where have you got resistance at the moment in your life? Where are you resisting? And what are you resisting in your life right now?

So I want you to take a moment and just think about what emotions you’re living and experiencing on a daily basis. Think about your emotions on a typical day in your life, in your relationships and at work?

What do you wake up feeling? What do you go to sleep feeling? These emotions are like your thermostat. This is what you have set as your emotional home if you like. When you're in that place in your relationship where you're really struggling it can be hard to see the light through the trees and to find a way out. On today's episode, I'm speaking with a past client who is really a friend because that's what my clients become. Brittanie has done our Worthy Woman Program and also our Ignite and Unite relationship program and she's sharing her experience, her biggest takeaways and really what encouraged her and inspired her to start investing in and working on herself.

Today I want to talk about how to be happy now. Happiness is literally something we're all seeking and chasing.

And what I want to share with you is what I learned that really, happiness doesn't require anything for us to be happy. So there is nothing that needs to happen on the outside but so many of us get caught in the trap of I'll be happy when. I'll be happy when my partner does this. I'll be happy when we get a new house. I'll be happy when I have a new car. I'll be happy when I get a new job. I'll be happy when my kids do this.

We all create these massive lists of I'll be happy when, as if this thing is going to give us happiness in the future. But it doesn't work like that because then you get the house or you get the car and then you start that cycle again.

It just keeps us stuck in this cycle of never actually being happy now.

I want to share a little hack which I call excuses or reasons. This is just a little thing I say to myself to keep myself on track because not too long ago, when I was knee deep in my early stages of my motherhood journey I really struggled to meet my own needs and to honour the needs that I had. I just got really stuck sacrificing for everybody else thinking that it was constantly needing to be a trade off like either meet their needs or mine.

And I would always choose everybody else. I am a recovering people pleaser and so I was always rewarded for putting everybody first. I always won the considerate, conscientious student award at school and that really had a negative side to it.

I was very conscious of everybody else all of the time and trying to make sure that I was keeping everybody happy all of the time but that came at a cost, which was me no longer meeting my own needs.

Change your story and you will change your relationship. It honestly is that simple. I could not believe when I learned this for myself and I still am mind blown when I share this with clients.

I just had a call with a woman the other day and literally every woman I work with experiences this same thing, and there's no judgment in me saying this because I was the same I can see the old me in every woman that I work with.

It always starts with, he's not doing this. He's not doing that. He always does this. He doesn't understand this. He's so frustrating. I can't get through to him.

He's just emotionally unavailable. He doesn't know how to communicate. He gets really angry. He shuts down. He doesn't listen to me. He doesn't understand me. I could go on and on and on.

I'm sure if you're listening and you're a woman and you're in a relationship or you've been in a relationship before you can relate to exactly what I'm saying.

What does love mean to you? This is so important because so many of us are not clear on what love actually means to us and love is really what we're all here for. It's the one thing we all want. It's that emotion that we, we all are seeking to feel more and more. We all want to feel loved.

So, the question I want to really ask you today and really encourage you to think about is what does love mean to you?

You will have rules around what love means to you. You'll have beliefs, you'll have ideas, you'll have stories, and that's what I mean by rules. We all have a set of rules, a set of ways that we believe we should receive love or a certain set of ways that love should be shown and when love doesn't match what we have as our model of the world then we can often reject it or push it away.

Comparison is one of the most soul sucking, dream destroying things I've ever seen in my life.

When I see someone feeding comparison, my heart breaks because I know that it will steal all your joy, progress and abundance. That's how powerful and damaging comparison is.

We have all got to learn how to deal with comparison and how to manage it and I had to learn this too. So one way that's helped me is to realise this truth. There is always going to be somebody behind me, learning from me and someone who I can inspire on their journey. And there is always going to be someone in front of me to inspire me that I can learn from.
