The Seattle Seahawks beat the Arizona Cardinals today 21-20 to secure a winning season at 9-8, and yet much of the fan base is losing their MINDS tonight. Why? Because the Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears to earn the final wild card playoff spot in the NFC, eliminating the Seahawks in the process.

Once again the Seahawks defense was atrocious, and it almost led to a loss to the 4-win Cardinals, but that's not all that fans want to talk about in it's aftermath.

Some want to pin the blame on Geno Smith and are calling for an all-out assault on drafting a QB, while others are pining for the dismissal of long-time head coach Pete Carroll.

Once again the Seahawks find themselves needing a win and a Green Bay loss on the final weekend of the season to sneak into the playoffs, and once again it's due to a bad defensive performance in their latest loss, 30-23 to the Steelers.

Since then, Pete Carroll has said he knows how to fix the defensive issues they're having, and will have them ready to play this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

But... haven't we heard this before? Is this yet another broken record of broken promises?

I'll compare some other Carroll quotes about this same issue from the last couple seasons, as well as dive into two other areas of the team where there seem to be huge disconnects and dysfunction right now.

For the second week in a row, the Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback led them on a long, last-minute touchdown drive to pull out an important win.... only this time it was Geno Smith instead of Drew Lock.

Facing the Tennessee Titans in his first game back after missing two games due to injury, Smith shook off some first-half rust in leading the Seahawks to yet another come-from-behind win. And this one was big.... improving the Seahawks record to 8-7 and putting them back in the drivers seat for a wild card playoff spot.

In this RAPID REACTION episode I'll share my immediate thoughts about what we saw in this game: the good, the bad, and the misunderstood.

In what was an ugly game that didn't seem to be going the Seahawks way for most of the night, Seattle pulled out a stunning upset on Monday Night Football, snapping a 4-game losing streak with their 20-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

With Drew Lock once again starting for an injured Geno Smith, the Eagles seemed to control the game for most of the night, even with an under-the-weather Jalen Hurts playing at less than his typical stellar self.

But with under 2 minutes to play, Lock took over and engineered a 92 yard drive, accounting for all of it in the air including two big plays to DK Metcalf, and the game-winning 29 yard TD pass to rookie WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

This latest loss to the 49ers, a 28-16 drubbing that was worse than the score indicated and dropped the Seahawks to 6-7 on the season.... may be the most indicative example or why changes may be needed at the top in Seattle.
