Born in New York City and raised in Aberdeen, New Jersey, Jim Kreitler earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Dayton. He then pursued a master's in addiction counseling from Grand Canyon University and is a Licensed Associate Substance Abuse Counselor (LASAC) in the state of Arizona. Kreitler began his own personal recovery journey in 1998. Ten years later, he retired from a 28-year career to seek his calling to help addicted people.
As a person whose life was saved by treatment and subsequent recovery, he knows both sides: the devastation of the disorder and the awesomeness of recovery. On the job, he loves interacting with patients, both current ones and those who return to share stories about their success in recovery. "I believe in everyone's ability to recover, and I am honored to be a part of that transformation," he says.
Married for 37 years with two adult children, Kreitler still enjoys playing softball, but he admits he takes it a little slower these days. He also likes to run, bike, swim and listen to music.
