Arguably the most famous child star the world has ever known, Shirley Temple was so talented that the Vatican sent a priest to confirm the 5-year-old girl wasn't actually a middle-aged woman with dwarfism. The top earning actress and box office earner in the US, Temple was easily the most famous person in the world for most of the 1930s... until she had the AUDACITY to grow a little older (as in, she hit double-digits).
