Jesse Elder: Curiosity, Intelligence, And The Difference Between Effort And Struggle — The Bledsoe Show #120

Jesse Elder’s (@jesseelderlive) own journey to self-mastery unfolded as he grew up in a family of 7. Being homeschooled, Jesse was given the gift by his parents of being largely self-directed in his education and spent hours exploring ideas that interested him. At the age of 9 Jesse was introduced to martial arts. Hitting the mats every week became a passion that would play a powerful role throughout Jesse’s life.   Coming out of his teenage years, Jesse learned that some things in life are too important to ignore and even though it might be uncomfortable, you must do what you think is right. This lesson helped give Jesse the courage to open his own school, which eventually transformed into him realizing that big ideas aren’t just for one person, but for anyone who desires more out of their life. The result of this realization is his website, jesseelder.com, which is a “vault” of mind videos at anyone's disposal.   In this episode we talk with Jesse about unconditional acceptance of self, developing a mindset of curiosity, the difference between effort and struggle, obeying the laws of nature, and, the all important question, last month, how many things did you do for the first time? Kyle Mauch: Stop Trying to Discover Your Purpose. Start Living Life On Purpose  — Feed Me Fuel Me #118

This week Jeff and Derz sit down with the founder of Athlete's Brand (@athletesbrand), Kyle Mauch (@kylemauch) and discuss what is truly possible! One of the most common questions we are asked as a result of our discussions is how you go about discovering your purpose. When you ask Kyle, he'll tell you that you're asking the wrong question. To know your purpose is to know WHY you were put on this earth. That is a subjective question that is usually left to the interpretation of those that you've impacted. If you knew WHY you were born, there would be no deviation from your path. You would do those deeds, accomplish those goals, without obstacle and no distraction. We all know that is not reality. Seeking purpose can give you a sense of fulfillment. A feeling of impact. Feelings often misinterpreted as purpose. ⠀ That is what Kyle does now for professional athletes and high performers. He guides them in clarifying their legacy. He helps them discover what they care about most deeply and assists them in building their legacy around that cause. While their social capital and influence is at its peak, his mission is to maximize that notoriety and create a legacy that will outlast their athletic career. However, it took a chance conversation with a mentor to help Kyle reframe the mission of Athlete's Brand into something bigger than creating charitable apparel. ⠀ The question we should all be asking ourselves, which Kyle has answered for himself is this: How can I deliver the biggest impact in the short time that I have on this earth? ⠀ When it is all said and done, the answer to that question should get you out of bed in the morning. It will guide the direction of your life and serve you as you serve others. Drop what you're doing, and listen closely as Kyle outlines what it means to live life ON PURPOSE!   – Jeff (@iamjeffthornton) and Mycal (@coachderz) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Show notes: http://www.shruggedcollective.com/fmfm_mauch ----------------------------------------------------------------------   ► Subscribe to Shrugged Collective's Channel Here http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedSubscribe

Drugs, Women, Murder, and CrossFit: The Story of Vincent Miceli — Real Chalk #54

From Wall Street cold calling to owning a successful gym in NYC with a detour into the nightclub scene along the way, Vincent Miceli’s career trajectory is all over the map and he has got some stories. I caught up with him at Solace to compare notes on gyms as businesses, how to create great programming, and what we would do differently if we could start all over.   Vincent talks about his own weight-loss journey (he lost almost 100 pounds in a year) and how he got into CrossFit (spoiler: it involved flipping a coin). We get real about what we look for in coaches, wonder where the insanely energetic people coaching SoulCycle classes come from, and break down what running a gym really looks like when you get down to the expenses. It’s a little bit of storytelling, a little bit of insight offering, a little bit of knowledge dropping, and a hell of a lot of fun. Ken Kilday: The New Tough Leader - Being a Leader Means Not Only Knowing The Words to Say, But Also Putting Action Behind Those Words  — Feed Me Fuel Me #117

According to our guest this week, leadership coach and mentor, Ken Kilday, the failure of leadership presently lies in the fact that people in influential positions know the words to say, yet aren't capable of putting action behind those words. There tend to be two kinds of leaders that seek Ken's counsel: those that are proactive, seeking to bring their blindspots and shortcomings to the forefront, and those that are reacting to a failed state of leadership and Ken's coaching is a last ditch effort to right the ship.   Part of the definition of leadership is to influence. Another way of putting it is to influence another to do what you want when they otherwise wouldn't.   Ken’s breadth of leadership experience provides him the unique ability to help leaders understand that effecting positive change is the key to overall success. The challenges of navigating ever-changing corporate cultures, bureaucracies, and financial goals provided the catalyst for him to create a business consulting firm based on   The ‘New-Tough Leader’ mentality of success equips leaders with tools to expect the best, lead with compassion, and inspire each individual to their greatest strengths in order to create an environment of success for themselves and their teams.   Dive in with us and listen closely as Ken explains what it means to be a New Tough Leader! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Show notes: http://www.shruggedcollective.com/fmfm_kilday ----------------------------------------------------------------------   ► Subscribe to Shrugged Collective's Channel Here http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedSubscribe
