  • How to Declutter Your Life and Start Living More Slowly (The P.R.O.M. Method)
How to Declutter Your Life and Start Living More Slowly (The P.R.O.M. Method)

Step 1 to Slow Living is decluttering everything that isn't working for you.

In this episode of the Slow Living Podcast, Stephanie O'Dea introduces the P.R.O.M. method for decluttering your life: Purge, Remove, Organize, Maintain.

Sometimes, in order to have MORE in your life, you have to start by removing what's getting in the way.

And we're not just talking about stuff.

Stephanie talks about decluttering things, people, activities, commitments, and everyday responsibilities that may no longer be serving you.

The goal isn't to create a perfectly organized life. It's to create more space for the people, activities, and experiences you actually want.

    In this episode, you'll learn:
    • The four steps of the P.R.O.M. decluttering method
    • Why decluttering isn't just about getting rid of physical stuff
    • How to identify things, activities, and commitments that aren't working for you
    • Why removing things can create more time, energy, and peace
    • How simplifying your surroundings and your schedule can help you Slow Down

The P.R.O.M. method comes from Stephanie's book Clean Less, Play More.

You don't need to do more. Sometimes you simply need to do less.

  • How I Discovered Slow Living After Years of Trying to Do It All
How I Discovered Slow Living After Years of Trying to Do It All

What happens when you're constantly rushing, trying to keep up, and doing all the things—until your body finally tells you to stop?

In this first episode of the Slow Living Podcast, Stephanie O'Dea shares the personal story that became the catalyst for her Slow Living philosophy.

While driving on the freeway toward Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, Stephanie experienced a panic attack that forced her to stop and take stock of the way she was living.

That experience made her question the hustle culture and go-go-go lifestyle she had come to accept as normal.

Stephanie believes that living slowly isn't about doing nothing or giving up on your goals. It's about creating enough space in your life to figure out what actually matters—and then finding realistic ways to get the necessary things done so you have more time and energy for the things you want to do.

In this episode, Stephanie talks about:

    • How she discovered Slow Living
    • Why constantly rushing and trying to "do it all" isn't sustainable
    • The difference between being productive and simply being busy
    • Why you don't have to feel behind in life
    • How to create more peace, purpose, and breathing room
    • Why the chores and responsibilities of everyday life don't have to become your identity

You are not behind. You don't need to rush around trying to catch up.

    It's okay to stop.

    Breathe.

It's all going to be okay.

  • Slow Living with Stephanie O’Dea

What if the life you're looking for isn't somewhere out there—but is waiting for you to slow down enough to notice it?

Have you ever had the feeling that you're missing something?

That you're busy all the time, getting things done, taking care of everyone else—and yet somehow you're still wondering, Is this really how I want to live?

I'm Stephanie O'Dea, a New York Times bestselling author, longtime slow living advocate, and creator of A Year of Slow Cooking.

I've been talking about slowing down since 2008, and I've learned that a slower life doesn't mean giving up your goals, becoming less ambitious, or moving to a cabin in the woods.

It means getting intentional about what matters to you—and building your life around it.

On Slow Living, we talk about the real stuff of everyday life: overwhelm, time, routines, relationships, parenting, health, money, home, work, aging, change, and the sometimes uncomfortable process of figuring out what you actually want.

You'll hear practical ideas, personal stories, honest conversations, and coaching moments designed to help you step back, breathe, and make choices that feel more like you.

Because I don't believe you need to hustle harder, optimize every minute, or keep chasing someone else's definition of success.

I believe you can do less, slow down, pay attention, and still create an extraordinary life.

    You are not behind.

You don't have to do everything.

And you don't have to figure it all out today.

If you're ready for a life with more peace, purpose, presence, and a little more room to breathe, you're in the right place.

Welcome to Slow Living with Stephanie O'Dea.

    Let's slow down together.
