I have the privilege of speaking with Shannon who shares openly for the first time about his traumas and struggles growing up as a gay male in an adopted Southern Baptiste family. He speaks about how drugs and alcohol were his way of dealing with his trauma but he also shares the traumas that occurred as a result of drinking and drugging.
Shannon highlights how difficult (and unfair) life can be, even during his sobriety he has had to overcome so many painful events in his life, how he stayed sober during this time is truly inspiring. He speaks about what sobriety has given him, the support he got from his husband and how he didn't go to AA but use an addiction counsellor to help him to become sobriety.
I am inspired to live my best life after listening to Shannon and he is an incredible human being.
