Today I bring you Wayne Kurtz. Wayne is a speaker, author, coach

and athlete and he’s a man of tremendous passion who has spent a
lifetime devoted to pursuing and achieving every goal he has to set
out to accomplish. Growing up, he learned from his parents to set
big goals and work hard to achieve them! He’s followed that advice.
He’s completed some of the most difficult races ever endured by a
human and will share with us some of the mental game that it takes
to achieve not just big goals but the biggest of goals that you can
    possible set for yourself.

    About Your

    Host Jim Harshaw

My name is Jim Harshaw. And I know where you’re at. You’re

working hard and qualified for what you do but you aren’t getting
what you want. You have plans on getting to the C-suite or
launching a business but ultimate success seems as far away today
as ever. You’re at the right place because you can get there from
    here.

    And I can help.

    Who I

    Am

I’m a speaker, coach and former Division I All American

wrestler that helps motivated former athletes reach their full
potential by getting clarity on their what they really want and
taking aggressive action to lead their ideal life not just despite
their prior failures but because of them.

I’m a husband and father of four. And I’m a serial entrepreneur.

I’ve launched multiple successful businesses as well as the
obligatory failed one. I’ve been the executive director of a
non-profit and have raised millions of dollars. I’ve worked in
sales. I’ve even been a Division I head coach. While I was born in
a blue-collar home I have spent my life surrounded by Olympians,
    CEO’s and millionaires.

Jim Rohn said, “You are the average of the five people you spend

    the most time with.”

    I’ve been lucky.

I’ve learned the habits of successful people and guess what.

You’re just like them. I know because I know your type. You’re
programmed for hard work, which is a prerequisite for success, but
you’ve never been shown how to use what you know to create the life
you want with the tools you have.

    I will show you how.

    Why You are

    Here

You've worked hard to achieve greatness. You’ve set goals

and maybe even set records. You’ve definitely failed and you’ve at
some point found yourself questioning if you were on the right
    track.

You need to understand this: You are far more prepared to

succeed than those who’ve not tried, competed, struggled and
overcome like you have. That’s the value of your education as
someone who aims high. You are prepared to be as successful as your
    wildest dreams will allow.

Here I will teach you, with the help of brilliant minds that

have been shaped by failure, struggle and adversity, to be who you
want to be. I sense that you want this because you have read this
    far.

  • Sudden Success #2: Short and Powerful Episode on Finding Your Unfair Advantage

We are lured into believing that success comes to people by pure luck… good genes, a connected parent, being in the right place at the right time. Sure, there are people who get lucky. We’re lured into looking at them as if luck is the only way to be successful. But those cases are one in a million. In the case of the lottery-- like the Powerball-- it’s more like one in hundreds of millions. It’s easier to believe in luck than to believe the truth. It’s easier to believe that we can be successful from luck than it is to believe that it came from hard work and struggle. That it came after many, many failures and nights laying in bed riddled with self-doubt. We can all find reasons why the other guy had it made, had an easier path or had more luck. Like when Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg, won the NCAA division I wrestling championship. When he first started wrestling, everyone say, “Poor Anthony. He’ll never win a match. He’s only got one leg.” Years later-- after more failures than most of us have been through-- he figured out how to make his handicap his advantage and people started saying, “Yeah, sure he won but he only has one leg… you can’t hit a double leg takedown on him… you can’t use the same breakdowns you would on a two-legged wrestler.” What about you?  Why are you lucky? As lucky as, say, Anthony Robles? Whether you were born to a wealthy family or to a poor family, both can be seen as an advantage if you choose to see it as an advantage. You grew up wealthy so you had more opportunity and had more experiences. You grew up poor so you’re hungrier and aren’t afraid of getting your hands dirty. You can see it as a factor in your favor or you can choose to see it as something holding you back.  It’s a choice. My good friend Charlie Brenneman recently wrote a blog post about his fledgling motivational speaking career. He wrote about how he stumbled into an opportunity to speak to a large corporation. Turns out there were all kinds of friends and family connections that led him there. It all came from one random email that he decided to send to an organization to see if they might be interested in his service. Luck? Sure. But he also sent 100 other emails that were dead ends. He failed 100 more times than he succeed. You can call it luck or hard work. They’re not really that much different when you look at the end result. One you control. One you don’t. There’s always a reason to believe that you have the edge. And there’s always a reason to believe that the other guy has the edge that you don’t have. What you believe is a choice. No matter what your background, experience level, prior success, up-bringing, education or socio-economic status, simply choosing to believe that you have the edge is the key. Because you do.

I believe that you have the edge…. What is it? If you had to identify your edge in the next 60 seconds, what would it be? This podcast is almost over but take the next 60 seconds to identify why YOU have an unfair advantage to succeed in what you want to accomplish.

And, if you enjoyed this episode, I hope you’ll consider sharing it with just one person. Shoot them an email, a text, a tweet, a message on FB… whatever… and tell them to check out the Wrestling with Success podcast by Jim Harshaw Jr.

    Have a great day!

    About Your Host Jim Harshaw

My name is Jim Harshaw. And I know where you’re at. You’re working hard and qualified for what you do but you aren’t getting what you want. You have plans on getting to the C-suite or launching a business but ultimate success seems as far away today as ever. You’re at the right place because you can get there from here.

    And I can help.

    Who I Am

I’m a speaker, coach and former Division I All American wrestler that helps motivated former athletes reach their full potential by getting clarity on their what they really want and taking aggressive action to lead their ideal life not just despite their prior failures but because of them.

I’m a husband and father of four. And I’m a serial entrepreneur. I’ve launched multiple successful businesses as well as the obligatory failed one. I’ve been the executive director of a non-profit and have raised millions of dollars. I’ve worked in sales. I’ve even been a Division I head coach. While I was born in a blue-collar home I have spent my life surrounded by Olympians, CEO’s and millionaires.

Jim Rohn said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

    I’ve been lucky.

I’ve learned the habits of successful people and guess what. You’re just like them. I know because I know your type. You’re programmed for hard work, which is a prerequisite for success, but you’ve never been shown how to use what you know to create the life you want with the tools you have.

    I will show you how.

    Why You are Here

You've worked hard to achieve greatness. You’ve set goals and maybe even set records. You’ve definitely failed and you’ve at some point found yourself questioning if you were on the right track.

You need to understand this: You are far more prepared to succeed than those who’ve not tried, competed, struggled and overcome like you have. That’s the value of your education as someone who aims high. You are prepared to be as successful as your wildest dreams will allow.

Here I will teach you, with the help of brilliant minds that have been shaped by failure, struggle and adversity, to be who you want to be. I sense that you want this because you have read this far.

Download the action plan from this episode here: http://jimharshawjr.com/action/

Today I bring you Aaron Walker. Aaron is a life and business coach. He draws on his 35 years of experience in business and marriage. He started his first business at age 18 and sold it 9 years later to a Fortune 500 company. Since then, he’s started, bought and sold eight successful companies. Like me, he’s a big believer in mastermind groups. He’s been in personal masterminds with the likes of financial guru Dave Ramsey as well as with well known entrepreneurs, authors and success coaches Dan Miller and Ken Abraham. Today, Aaron spends the majority of his time helping men grow in success and significance as the President and Founder of View from the Top, a premier life and business coaching resource.
