Lauren Goss has recently turned her focus to the 5,000m and 10,000m after a highly successful career in the Triathlon and Half Ironman events. Lauren's track goals include running World Championships qualfying standards for the 5,000m and 10,000m this year and in this conversation we discuss training, goals, Ric Rojas as a coach and much more.
She then went on to run 2:26 in Valencia marathon in December, attracting attention from Nike Trail and NN Running who will be supporting her going forwards. This performance, which places her third all-time for a Dutch woman, is especially astounding given she started running a mere three years ago, really picking it up after lockdowns started in Switzerland where she is completing a PhD in GeoPhysics. Nienke’s background in field hockey has proven to be a solid foundation for versatile performances.
We are grateful for Nienke giving us the time to share her journey, her enthusiasm and passion for the sport are so clear in this conversation and we are excited to watch her trajectory over the coming years.
