Happy Monday, Clams! In this episode I’ll discuss all of the wonderful tips and tricks I learned throughout the Excellence in Speaking Institute course I took last week. Do you want to know the most important thing I took away from my experience? Be comfortable with the uncomfortable! We’ll talk about how having eye connection, standing firm, pausing and eliminating non-words doesn’t come easy to everyone and how to implement these things in your life. You don’t have to master it all at once, but by putting some of these things into practice in your daily life will ultimately be of value to you!

A non-word is an um, like, so, etc. Take time to think about your non-words and try pausing instead. I encourage you to be aware of yours and try not to start every sentence with “so”. You know what you’re going to say. Pause, think about it and proceed.
Give everyone you’re speaking to an opportunity to connect with you through your eyes. Yes, it’s easier said than done… but try it, own it. The more we do it the more it becomes our habit.
Anytime you’re talking to someone, you’re presenting your thoughts and opinions. Storytelling is my favorite because you’re simply regurgitating what happened to you. The most important thing to remember if you’re a storyteller is your grabber opening and power close.Talks With Your Trainor is hosted by Meghan Trainor, the Founder of BodyByTrainor! Have you ever worked with a coach or personal trainer and ended up sharing all your life stories with them? This podcast is like those talks… just without the burpees. This podcast will cover topics like fitness, body image, confidence, fashion and beauty, and all the life things that happen in between.
