His inauguration speech set a bold tone, promising to usher in a new "golden age" for America and emphasised an "America First" policy. Throughout his speech, Trump criticised the previous administration's handling of security, foreign policy, immigration, public services, and education. 

Trump wasted no time implementing significant changes, declaring a national emergency at the southern border and in energy. He has expressed a desire to rename the Gulf of Mexico and an interest in acquiring the Panama Canal. Trump has also signed executive orders to withdraw the US from the Paris climate agreement and the World Health Organisation (WHO), raising questions about the future of US global engagement.
