BMP-Ep107: Why Implementing Change Slowly Unlocks Superior Results (Steve T.)
While Steve has been a long-time hiker, he never really thought about exercise until he reached his mid-50s and noticed his body was starting to break down. Steve spent his career working a typical desk job where he hunched over a computer. And this caused immense knee and shoulder pain.
Since he wanted to continue to hike as he aged, Steve knew he needed to do some form of exercise to keep his body free from pain. He thought yoga could keep his body in “hiking shape,” but the one hot yoga class he attended made him feel uncomfortable. Not only was the class hot, but he was the only guy in the class too.
That’s when he searched for “yoga for men,” and became a Man Flow Yoga Member. This happened six years ago.
While Steve still does yoga today, he went through a complete transformation that makes him feel better today, in his 60s, than perhaps he’s ever felt.

Today’s guest, firefighter Bob M., routinely puts his body in precarious positions—crawling positions, in positions where his hands are above his head, and flexing his legs into bizarre positions—to save lives. Literally.

Before discovering Man Flow Yoga, Richard B. (today’s Better Man Podcast guest) developed intense hip pain from his job. His pain was so strong that he actually thought he developed a kidney stone!
As he started doing physical therapy for his pain, he was reminded of how similar physical therapy and yoga are. Unlike most Man Flow Yoga Members, yoga played a large role in Richard’s fitness regimen for most of his life.
While he preferred doing yoga in a yoga studio with others, he quickly changed his tune after his first Man Flow Yoga session.
Why?
Well, the muscle activation aspect of Man Flow Yoga taught him more about his body and yoga than he ever experienced in a studio class before!
Not only did this help him eliminate his pain, but he also started growing stronger after each session too. This snowballed into a complete transformation towards health:

During covid, Anthony, today’s Better Man Podcast guest, was furloughed from his job and spent his days doing nothing other than playing video games.
But then, his Husky was more excited than most days, and this kickstarted a chain reaction in Anthony’s mind: His dog was going crazy because he lacked exercise. And so was Anthony.

Adam’s dad died when he was only 49 years old. But when Adam turned 50, instead of using his father’s passing to inspire him, it almost made him give up on life.
