Just me on episode 15, talking about change....and the way the pandemic has totally changed the way I teach and opened up so many opportunities for us to rethink the way exercise and movement shows up in our lives.
I never had an interest in teaching online. It was literally the last thing I ever wanted to do. I taught 60-75 minute in person classes because that is the way yoga and strength was taught, and that was that.
Until it wasn't. Until I got the unbelievable chance to reconsider everything. It took time, and its still evolving, but I think where we are now has been a huge paradigm shift for the better.
I get into some specifics about all of this including:
After listening, I encourage you think about how has your relationship with movement and exercise shifted over the last year? What's working for you? What's not working? And then send me a DM or an email because I'd love to discuss.

This podcast is called The Movement Diaries, but I think the most underrated part of movement is actually rest.
So that's what episode 14 is all about. My guest Melissa Smith Wilkinson is a restorative yoga teacher and teacher trainer and her expertise on rest is incredible.
We talk about how, like movement, rest is not all or nothing and can be so much more accessible than we think. We don't need a 90 minute restorative practice with 6 bolsters, 3 blankets and 24 blocks or 12 hours of sleep. You sometimes only need a few minutes of time to reset.
This is a radical shift, for me included, but has the power to help us manage stress, feel happier and more content throughout the day.
We also dive into:
Very simply, rest makes everything else better. If this is something you've struggled with (so....all of you), listen in.

This might be my favorite solo episode so far.
Because it dives headfirst into what I think are the biggest underlying issues for people who struggle with exercise (and food). So, nearly every single one of us.
First, I talk about why comparing the human body to a machine is the most inaccurate and infuriating analogy ever. Can people PLEASE stop doing this? Its causing major issues.
We are humans. Not robots. We are different EVERYDAY.
Some days we're really hungry. Some days we're not. Some days we're tired and some days we're full of energy. Some days we're in a great mood, some days we're in a crappy mood.
How can we exercise the SAME way under all of these circumstances? Spoiler alert: We can't.
And this is a big reason why so many of us have such a battle with exercise (and food....).
I talk a lot about what we need to do to stop treating ourselves like robots and start having some compassion and self kindness so that we can finally create a sustainable, healthy relationship with movement.

Episode 12 today is a special one because I'm talking with one of my closest friends who also happens to be a holistic health coach, Lesley Landa.
Lesley and I go on walks together all the time and inevitably end up talking about work-and we realized those conversations needed to be on a podcast. So here it is!
We talk all about...
-what it means to work with a holistic health coach
-why a one size fits all approach never works
-why successful lasting change happens with one small step at a time
-why cutting out entire food groups is not the answer
-why you need to stop beating yourself up for "emotional eating"
-why asking for help and support is the key to change that sticks

Why is it so easy for us to spend time and money on things that get replaced but so difficult when it comes to our own bodies which are, quite literally, irreplaceable?
This is what I’m talking about on episode 11 of The Movement Diaries. This might be a sensitive topic for some, but I think its something each of us needs to really take an honest look at because of the way these choices are impacting our health and wellness.
I offer a few of my own insights as to why I think its such a challenge and what we might be able to do to shift our mindset.

This week's guest is a fellow teacher and friend and someone I admire more than I can say. I've known Dawn not even 2 years and couldn't even begin to list what I've learned from her in this short time.
I'm so excited about this episode because we get into so many myths around movement and what we actually need to be focusing on when it comes to fitness and feeling good.
Here's a little bit of what we cover in just 45 minutes:

Let's talk about trust.
Do you even know what it means to trust your body?
I bet you don't (even thought you might think you do). I didn't either. But after this short and sweet episode I think you'll begin to figure it out.
Spoiler alert: Trusting your body is about learning to live in the grey areas.
I'm sharing a few personal stories about how I learned to rebuild trust with my body and how its literally changed everything and actually made me a happier person.
If you've been wondering why you dislike exercising and can never figure out a way to make it stick long term, this one is for you.
This is the type of work we'll dive into in my 8 week Movement Mindset Reset group coaching program. Next group starts February 18, click here to get on the waitlist.

Something I really hope to do with The Movement Diaries is to spark conversations and reflection around challenging, scary, uncomfortable yet essential and transformational topics.
I think today's interview with All Foods Fit nutrition coach Christi Brown does just that.
This is a deeply personal episode for me because we dive in to some very sensitive topics around food, disordered eating, self punishment and body insecurity.
(Note: There are some potentially triggering conversations in here if you have suffered through an eating disorder).
Christi and I both share our personal experience with food and fitness and the ongoing practice of understanding what health means to each of us.
We talk about....

Back with episode 7, a solo one talking about one of my favorite topics: consistency.
Consistency is the goal we are all striving for when it comes to establishing a habit and creating lasting change....but for some reason it eludes so many of us and we end up starting and stopping things, setting unrealistic goals and feeling like we're going in circles.
I talk about the big pitfall many of us get stuck in when trying to find consistency, some really simple techniques we can use not just to create change, but to make it stick and the "big three" pillars of an approach to movement and exercise that will support you for life.

Episode 6 brings on my friend and fellow movement teacher Erica Webb (all the way from Melbourne Australia!)
Erica and I have a very similar approach to teaching movement, so it was really fun to dive into this conversation with her.
