Mike's damaged relationship with food began as a child when he learned adults around him found his capacity to eat entertaining. If you just jump ahead you learn he was eventually 693 pounds and barely mobile, but his story is about so much more. It is about a lifetime of dieting and using food as comfort as he battled mental illness and physical trauma while navigating a health care system determined to right him off. Mike found it within himself to fight and champion himself through it all, and his journey is not over by any means, but he is the healthiest he has been in a long time mentally and physically, down over 200 pounds so far and thriving in his life! The challenges and bad days don't fade, but he grows stronger fighting them. I am excited to share his story with you in this new episode.

Almost 4 years ago Jose Diaz first appeared on the Fat Guy Forum! He was over 550 pounds and feeling focused on starting his journey to reclaim his health. As often happens in life though, things did not go as planned and it would be a few years before he took action. He reached out and asked if he could come back on to update us all on his journey's progress and I was honored! It's not easy to say, "Remember when I said I was ready? I wasn't." Jose opens up about how things got worse before they got better, in a story that I am sure most of us can relate to now!

He's currently down over 220 pounds and living an active life! Still coaching soccer but now more of an active participant than sideline observer! I am excited for you to hear from him again.
