I have a treat for you today. Today I have the privilege to interview one of our incredible Leadership Academy clients who has absolutely crushed it in year one of her business… Jess Oslo is the Founder of Vantis Institute in Newport Beach CA. Kaeli is discussing how we think, especially during this pandemic, on today's episode. The one word that keeps coming up is survival. Chaos and uncertainty are other words associated with COVID-19, but you should embrace disruption and see it as an opportunity and a powerful strategy.

Right now, we find ourselves in uncharted waters. The future has always been uncertain, but we can pull through it regardless of the fear. Kaeli describes what she's overcome and how, as a result of her tragedies and her ability to rebound from them, she knows she possesses the power to overcome. This can be a timely opportunity to up-level your business. In this episode, Kaeli touches on three core principles:

1. Believing in the power and positivity of disruption
2. Disruption can be applied to both businesses and human beings
3. Intentional disruption to create growth

If unplanned disruption can be a catalyst for growth, can intentional disruption (such as stepping out of your comfort zone) lead to innovation? The theory of disruption states that the odds of success are six times higher when you pursue a disruptive course. There is no guarantee, and that's the beauty of it.

Think of chutes and ladders - you never know where you're going to land and there's constant ups and downs. You can jump or you can get pushed in order to grow. When was the last time you allowed yourself to get so uncomfortable that you had no choice but to evolve? Let's go disrupt!

In today's episode, Kaeli discusses herself and her journey into the aesthetics field. She also talks about her personal mission and lets us in on why it's important to fully optimize your team to maximize your growth and income.

After graduating, Kaeli was recruited for a sales position with Bayer Healthcare. This allowed her to learn the intricacies of working for a Fortune 500 company, and how corporations in general operate. Kaeli was then recruited to an aesthetics company where she found her true passion. She moved up the ladder into sales management, then to sales director heading a team of 15 women. While she loved her job and team, with two small children at home she ultimately decided to make a change for her family.

Always seeing her superpower as being able to see the big picture, as well as having an entrepreneurial spirit, Kaeli began KLC Consulting. With a passion for team building and team culture, Kaeli found her focus in helping to build her clients' practices. During this period, she found that doctors are often lacking the skills needed to be CEO and the time to learn them.

Here, Kaeli noticed an opportunity often missed. Practice managers are underutilized and undervalued. To expand and scale the reach of your business, develop the team you already have. What people are learning at conferences is outdated for the practices of today and we need to step up and innovate.

Kaeli's mission is to elevate the voices of practice managers and give them the platform and tools they need to help grow their business. It's time to stop looking externally for solutions. In today's episode Kaeli talks to Alisha Rose Merlo, Senior Director of Professional Relations at Colorescience and Founder of The Inspo Zone. She joins us to share her journey to the aesthetics industry, the importance of elevating others and how to be the most authentic version of yourself.

Leaving New Jersey to attend school for a Degree in Speech Language Pathology, Alisha knew three things; she was never getting married, never having kids and never driving a minivan. Looking back now, a married mother and grandmother of two, Alisha's biggest learning from that time is never say never.

Alisha goes on to discuss hurdles in her life and career, both self-imposed and external. The best advice Alisha can offer is that if you have to wait, make use of the waiting. Have patience, gain knowledge and learn to apply it. Be ready when the opportunity does come.

Networking and building community is about elevating others and adding value, Alisha explains. She realized that her spiritual gift was encouragement and has made it her purpose. Really listen to those in your community and remember what they say. Building community right now may be difficult, but you can still utilize technology and social media. Reach out and engage with your circle and beyond!

Finally, Alisha offers advice for her younger self and the listeners. Take the time to recognize the milestones as you reach them. Be present. Don't compromise your integrity to advance, and pursue everything you do with a heartfelt passionate intensity.

Kaeli is talking to fifth year plastic surgery resident Dr. Deepa Bhat in today's episode. With a double major in Spanish and Brain Behavior/Cognitive Science, Deepa is now working through her plastic surgery residency in Albany, New York. She joins to discuss residency, cultural identity and the importance of knowing the value of the small steps you take.

Beginning in medical school, the only thing Deepa knew was that she didn't want to be a surgeon. The perception of it as predominantly male and cutthroat was off-putting. However, once she started her rotations, she was able to flip the stereotype. She saw many women in the field and found her mentors to be excellent and kind teachers.

She was immediately drawn to the reconstructive aspect of surgery and the ability to instantly impact and change someone's life. People often have the misconception that plastic surgery is a shallow and purely aesthetic discipline. Deepa reminds us that it is an empowering tool that helps people grow their confidence and overcome hurdles.

Deepa goes on to discuss overcoming not knowing English as a young child and how difficult it was for her to navigate the school system in the US. In her residency, Deepa switched to plastic surgery from general surgery in her third year. This meant putting in extra work and taking charge of her own education to catch up to her peers.

Deepa and Kaeli end the episode by reminding you that every small step you take towards your goal matters and that you shouldn't take any of them for granted.

In today's episode, Kaeli discusses creating compensation plans that motivate your employees. Times are tough out there and many businesses are struggling to make the pivots necessary to survive during the pandemic. Many are seeing unexpected reactivity in areas they would usually be bulletproof in.

Kaeli begins by describing the three main challenges companies are currently seeing with their employees. First of all, many workers are apathetic about returning, whether it's due to safety concerns or new stress at home created by lockdown. Second, many are reluctant to return to expanded responsibilities for no extra pay. Finally, they are seeing a decrease in commissions and customers leading to an overall revenue reduction.

How do you overcome the resistance to motivation? Begin by understanding there is no cookie cutter comp plan, and that motivation and compensation are often unrelated. The two can be aligned, but they don't necessarily impact each other.

An important step is to look at your hiring process. Are you hiring to fill a gap or are you actively looking for an ambitious worker that will go above and beyond to help your business grow? Really reflect and shift from tactical to strategic hiring and ask yourself, "is this person going to elevate us?"

Kaeli ends the episode by discussing the 4 acts principle. Create a set of responsibilities for your employees to create 4 times their salary in a year. Employ key performance indicators that perpetuate revenue increase and scale a holistic global compensation package. Remember that team building, leadership and management go hand in hand, and you need to articulate your goals to create alignment.

Consistency is key when it comes to phone inquiries. Ensuring your employees have the same understanding and answers, especially when it comes to disclosing pricing, is crucial.
