Today's episode is all about embracing being a beginner. The fact is, if you started, you’re a badass. Most people don’t even start. Starting is the first hurdle, enduring being a beginner is the next. Today's tips for being a beginner include:
Stop comparing your beginning to someone else’s middle. We often compare ourselves to people who have been doing this for years or even a lifetime.
Give yourself permission to go slow. The day you plant the seed is not the day you get to eat the fruit. Until you have a handful of listeners, customers, or clients you will never get to a hundred.
The dream we seek is often the result of years of work, so know that being a beginner is the first step. It’s important to connect back to our heart and inspiration for starting when our head wants to tell us we’re going too slow, or tired of being a beginner
It’s often our ego that gets in the way of embracing being a beginner because our ego wants us to be an expert, and the best in the business or industry so we feed it. But the heart connects to something deeper and that’s our desire or passion for the project and often the reason we started, so connecting back to the heart is a good practice to have when you’re first starting out.

Today's episode is all about giving yourself permission to go slow. Slowing down is what enables us to enjoy the journey and move at a sustainable pace. We couldn't think of a better person to have this conversation with than Dianna Cohen, Founder of Crown Affair, a haircare brand empowering people to redefine their relationship with their hair through accessible luxury products, guidance, and community. Despite the fast pace startup life, Dianna grounds herself daily with rituals and routines that remind her to slow down and take her time. Prior to Crown Affair, Dianna founded Levitate, a brand marketing agency, where she led initiatives for brands including The Wing, Harry’s, Flamingo, Outdoor Voices, etc. Dianna is part of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 for the Class of 2019. We hope our conversation inspires you to embrace a slower pace on the way to building your big dreams.

In today's episode, I share the most difficult parts of going after a dream. Being aware of these difficulties can better prepare you in your journey of chasing down a dream. The 3 challenges I highlight in today's episode are:
1) You care deeply: so when move slower than you desire or things go wrong, it can be hard
2) It's hard work: any dream requires consistent hard work over time and that's no easy task
3) Negative thoughts: the moment you reach for more, it's easy to let self-limiting beliefs and fear take over, so have a plan to address those thoughts so they don't become all consuming.
