When Staci Frenes learned her teenage daughter was gay, she found her dreams for the future—along with her lifelong faith—collapsing around her.

Can we talk about that collapse, a bit? :)

I this week’s episode we are joined by special guest, musician and author Staci Frenes, who's new book "Love Makes Room" comes out May 2021 and details the account of how she had to confront her old religious ideas and beliefs when her daughter came out to her.

One of our favorite moments was when Staci described how she had to listen to and trust the God she could feel in her gut.

We are joined by Candice Czubernat, founder of the nation's premiere LGBTQ telehealth organization, The Christian Closet (thechristiancloset.com)

Candice became a dear friend of ours when (among other things) she visited Sojourn Grace years ago, was a brilliant guest speaker, and challenged us as leaders to be MORE clear about just how open and affirming our faith community is. And she was/is RIGHT! That sort of clarity is desperately needed.

We talked about all sorts of good things, such as: when she told us about some of the gifts of being queer; how an LGBTQ person can navigate the complexities of a family that doesn't accept them, and why tele-health is actually really, really good and important.
