In Episode 1680 of Jimmy Rants on the LLVLC Show, we take an honest look at the SWAP-MEAT Study.
“They even admit that they got skewed results due to the way they conducted the study.”
- Jimmy Moore
A new study published in the August 11, 2020 edition of The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition claims that consuming at least two servings of plant-based meat a day will lower your cardiovascular risk factors as compared with the same amount of red meat. The 16-week randomized crossover study funded by the Beyond Meat company was conducted by Stanford researcher Dr. Christopher Gardner and his team.
But there are some major flaws in this study that I can’t let slip by. In this episode of JIMMY RANTS on The LLVLC Show, I pour over the study design and results of this research finding major flaws that bring into question why this ever got published to begin with. Listen in for full details!

Today Jimmy is joined by Ben Azadi for a dynamic show on Episode 1679 of The LLVLC Show.
“Following the conventional approach to diet is like a long, slow suicide.”
- Ben Azadi
Ben Azadi FDN-P (thebenazadi), is on a mission to help 1 billion people live a healthier lifestyle. Ben is the author of three best-selling books, The Perfect Health Booklet, The Intermittent Fasting Cheat Sheet, and The Power of Sleep. Ben has been the go-to source for intermittent fasting and the ketogenic diet. He is known as ‘The Health Detective’ because he investigates dysfunction, and educates, not medicate, to bring the body back to normal function.
Listen in today to hear Ben talk about his journey from an obese young adult to the healthy man he is today. Ben shares with Jimmy how he had to take responsibility for his own health and make up his mind to not be a victim of his life circumstances, but become a victor over past hurts and trauma. If you believe that diets are only about your outward, physical health, Ben and Jimmy shed light on how the mental fight is just as important as the size of clothes we wear.
Join Jimmy and Ben for a wide ranging conversation all about finding the right keto plan for just about everyone, how Ben found the right plan for himself, how the Covid restrictions are affecting us, and what America will look like if we stay on the current path and what we can do about it and why faith over fear is the mindset to have.

On today’s episode of JIMMY RANTS on The LLVLC Show, we talk all about vegetable oils and the flawed science that promotes them.
“When you’re a kid you have to trust what adults say, but as adults we should be questioning everything.”
- Jimmy moore
Saturated fat has been heavily vilified for decades and yet nobody really can explain why. Despite the fact there has never been a randomized controlled trial showing any negative health implications from consuming foods like meat, butter, and dairy, it’s still very commonly believed by the average person. However, new research is starting to change that and hopefully the persistent phobia will soon come to an end.
In this episode of JIMMY RANTS on The LLVLC Show, I read from an article detailing some of the research shenanigans that went on in the early 70s in studies that were looking at replacing saturated fat with polyunsaturated fat oils and margarine. The published results didn’t give the full story. But I’ve got the details for you in this episode! Check it out!

Today Jimmy is joined by Judy Barnes Baker on Episode 1677 of The LLVLC Show.
“I was losing weight quickly, I was passing out and nobody had any idea what was going on with me.”
– Judy Barnes Baker
Judy Barnes Baker always knew she would be an artist when she grew up. So how did an artist come to write a book on health, diet, and nutrition? She was as surprised as anyone else, but it was a matter of necessity, not choice. Judy’s husband had always said he would never live to retire because of health problems and family history, and he took early retirement to be close to his grandchildren so they would remember him. His weight, blood pressure and blood lipid profile had gotten steadily worse over the years. Every time he went to the doctor, his medications would be increased, and he was starting to get serious side effects. Judy first learned about low-carb diets from a friend and decided to see if that would help get him off some of his many medications. She knew he would eat what she gave him as long as it was good. Six months later, he went in for his regular checkup. When the test results came in the mail, the Dr. had written “Way to go!” across the bottom. (The Dr. had no idea how he had done it, and never asked.) They have been committed to the low-carb life and enjoying its benefits ever since.
After seven years of re-creating all their favorite recipes, Judy wanted to share what she had learned so other people wouldn’t have to start from scratch.
Listen in today as Judy joins Jimmy for a fascinating conversation all about her journey to the brink of death and back, and what caused this incredibly dramatic trip into the unknown.

“There’s a narrative that there’s a consensus that plant foods are wonderful. No, not everyone believes this.”
– Jimmy Moore
With the increase in popularity of the carnivore diet in recent years, those who oppose it have stepped up their attacks to prevent people from trying this way of eating. One of the major complaints they have lodged against an animal-based nutritional health plan is that it is lacking in all the essential nutrients. But is it true?
In this episode of JIMMY RANTS on The LLVLC Show, I read from an outstanding study published in the August 21, 2020 issue of the journal Current Opinion in Endocrinology & Diabetes and Obesity. The author of this paper is a longtime friend of mine named Amber O’Hearn (@ambimorph) who is one of the OG’s of zero-carb animal food only adherents. She’s been at this for an extremely long time and thus has a lot to say both personally as well as in her own research of this topic that saved her life.
Listen in to this episode to hear her insights along with my running commentary of what she wrote in her outstanding paper! If you are a fan of carnivore, keto, and real food eating, this is a MUST LISTEN. And if you eat plant-based and you just came across this, get ready to have your eyes opened.

Today Jimmy is joined by Dietitian Michelle Hurn on Episode 1675 of The LLVLC Show.
“Fat has such a powerful impact on the brain, and I don’t feel like we promote this enough in the nutrition community.”
- Michelle Hurn
Michelle Hurn RD LD is dedicated to bringing awareness to the potential to reverse chronic disease by returning to an ancestral, low carbohydrate, high fat, high meat diet. She questions our current nutrition guidelines and asks if they truly are designed with our health in mind. Through her podcast The Dietitian’s Dilemma, she answers questions and address your concerns as well as conducts interviews with guests who have completely reserved course and restored their health with a ketogenic, carnivore, or low carbohydrate diet. She shares stories of recovery from eating disorders, obesity, heart failure, life long depression, anxiety, chronic pain and inflammation, and so much more.
Listen in today as Jimmy welcomes Michelle to the LLVLC Show to talk about her story of finding the carnivore way of eating and what that has meant for her, as well as the shortcomings of the dietitian community to adequately equip the population for optimum nutrition.
On today’s episode of JIMMY RANTS on The LLVLC Show, we talk about the dehumanizing effects mask wearing is having on us as a society.

“Just put on a mask and shut up” they say. And the vast majority of Americans have done just that. I’m not interested in the mask vs. no mask debate, but I’m very interested in what the ramifications will be of everyone hiding their faces. I’m becoming concerned that it’s dehumanizing us and hindering our natural socialization.
We’ve been fed so many nutritional health lies that have been exposed that it’s almost incredible that people still buy into them as if they’re true. I’ve been sharing about these lies for the past decade and a half and I have longed for the day when people will finally collectively wake up. I’m hoping that day has arrived.
In this episode of JIMMY RANTS on The LLVLC Show, I talk about the challenges of human expression, effective communication, and essential social interaction in the era of universal mask wearing. Have we thought about the unintended consequences that will come from this mandatory mask wearing lingers on for many more months, even YEARS? I also broach the subject about how the coronavirus pandemic has exposed these nutrition lies even further because the people who are most susceptible to severe consequences and even death from the virus are those that are the most metabolically damaged exhibiting comorbidities. If this doesn’t wake up people to do something about their diet sooner than later, then I don’t know what will.

“Eating a lot of little meals a day is a wonderful way to ensure your insulin is spiked every minute of the day.”
- Dr. Ben Bikman
Dr. Benjamin Bikman earned his Ph.D. in Bioenergetics and was a postdoctoral fellow with the Duke-National University of Singapore in metabolic disorders. Currently, his professional focus as a scientist and professor (Brigham Young University) is to better understand chronic modern-day diseases, with a special emphasis on the origins and consequences of obesity and diabetes, with an increasing scrutiny of the pathogenicity of insulin and insulin resistance. He frequently publishes his research in peer-reviewed journals and presents at international science meetings. Dr. Bikman has long been an advocate of a ketogenic diet in light of the considerable evidence supporting its use as a therapy for reversing insulin resistance. Dr. Bikman from InsulinIQ.com promotes dietary clarity, healing, and freedom through evidence-based science about insulin resistance.
Listen in today to hear Jimmy and Dr. Bikman discuss the importance role insulin resistance plays in our overall health journey.
Today we tackle the topic of COVID-19 messaging in light of patients being scared to visit their doctor for routine care. Tune in today on Episode 1670 of The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.

“We’re so fearful of a virus with less than 1% death rate that people are willing to let go of common sense. If you need medical attention, don’t stay home and try to ride it out.”
- Jimmy Moore
The vaccine for COVID-19 will potentially be here in a matter of months and researchers at Yale University are trying to determine what messaging it will take to convince you to take it. They are currently conducting a study of 4000 American adults both healthy and unhealthy to determine which argument in favor of a vaccination would be the most effective.
With all the constant negative media coverage of COVID-19 over the past six months, people have become absolutely scared to death of getting this virus. With the daily running tally of infections and deaths relentlessly blasted at us, people have become so paralyzed by fear that it is affecting the rational sensibility when it comes to getting regular routine medical care. Hospitals have taken notice.
While the perception is that everyone in hospitals right now has the coronavirus, it’s honestly not true. But because that perception is so deeply ingrained in many right now, people simply aren’t going to the hospital to get checked out when they have symptoms. One survey found that one in 4 Americans with symptoms of a heart attack or stroke would rather take their chances at home than to go to a hospital and risk getting COVID-19. This is atrocious!
In this episode of JIMMY RANTS on The LLVLC Show, I share about the top 10 causes of death in the United States and how many of the screenings for things like heart disease and cancer are being missed because patients just aren’t getting them done. One breast cancer facility in the news story I read has seen a 90% drop in mammograms since the beginning of March. Listen in today to learn more about the lasting ramifications that will come from this missed preventative care and treatments for chronic disease.
