This style of whiskey is quickly becoming a favorite amongst those who would normally reach for bourbon. Arrgh! Ahoy, Matey! This week we take to the seas and uncork a bottle of Jefferson’s Ocean Aged At Sea Wheated Bourbon. This bourbon is typically aged on land for 6-8 years and the loaded onto a research ship where it ages for an additional 5-10 months. Uncommon as it was when Jefferson’s first started doing this, aging whiskey on the water is quickly becoming something that more distillers are considering. What do we think about this sea breezy bourbon? You’ll have to listen this week to find out. Also, as an added bonus you’ll get to hear Anthony botch more geography and talk about his struggle to taste whiskey post covid. Land ho!

Vacation, all I ever wanted! @professorkix annual family trip to Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina was filled with good times and bourbon hunting. A quick trip to the Boundary Bottle Company yielded a very unexpected find: Paul Sutton Single Barrel Bourbon selected exclusively for the members at Palmetto Bluff. This 6 year old bottled-in-bond bourbon was distilled, aged, and bottled in Danville, Kentucky. Prior to seeing this one in the shelf, the fellas had never heard of it. You’ll have to listen this week as we taste this single barrel pick and discuss the history behind Paul Sutton Bourbon. This is a bottle/brand that we definitely think you should be on the lookout for in the future!

In the bourbon industry, you won’t find a place with more fanfare and buzz than the world famous Stitzel-Weller distillery in Shively, Kentucky. Once home to brands like Pappy Van Winkle, Old Fitzgerald, Rebel Yell, Cabin Still, and Old Weller, the site now is now owned by Diageo and home to the Bulleit Frontier Whiskey Experience. A few years ago, Diageo released Blade and Bow Bourbon which is said to contain the remnants of original Stitzel distillate mixed with younger whiskies made possible by their unique solera aging process.
