We don’t advocate chasing trends at all—some of the best marketing tips out there are timeless. But following trends can be helpful in influencing the direction and flavor of your marketing so that it speaks to what matters to your customers and the world at large. And today, one of the hottest trends that customers are hungry for is wellness.
The wellness industry is bringing in $1.5 trillion dollars annually, and consumers are looking for wellness across every purchasing category. But what actually is wellness, and how can it apply to your product if you’re not specifically in that market?
According to a report by McKenzie & Co., consumers view wellness across these six categories:
Even if you don’t fit into one of these categories, you can certainly market to them. As long as you understand that wellness is important to consumers, you can highlight the ways your product ties into wellness. You don’t have to change what you’re doing or start a new business, but it is valuable to understand what your customer values in their life. When you can relay the value of wellness in your business so that it speaks to your customers in a way that resonates, you are going to see results.

I’m excited to introduce you to your new digital marketing best friend, host of The Goal Digger Podcast, author, and the one helping us ask better questions, Jenna Kutcher. We dug into breaking free of hustle culture just for your ears today. Her debut book, “How Are You, Really?” released on June 28th! Grab your copy today here!
As a top business and marketing educator, she went against expectations and wrote a book not about business. But truth be told, the book did actually start as a business book—that is, before Jenna realized that the message in this book was not reserved for entrepreneurs. And that’s how this digital diva turned her passion into a product that she believes has the power to transform lives.
We dive into why she changed her mind about never wanting to write a book, the incredible story of what happened when she became a mother, and how stepping back in your business can actually lead to even more growth than you thought possible.
If you want inspiration of what’s possible in life as well as the steps you can take to get there, you have to read “How Are You, Really?” Jenna will teach you more about yourself than you’ve ever known, how to build a support network to help you achieve your dreams, and how to set a goal that brings you joy.
To celebrate Jenna’ book release and because we think EVERYONE should read it, we are hosting a giveaway! Anyone who shares this episode on Instagram and tags @theproductboss and @jennakutcher, will be entered to win a free copy of Jenna’s book!

If you’ve been following business coaches or anyone offering entrepreneurial advice online over the past ten years, you’ve probably been told—in no uncertain terms—that you need social media for your business. And yet, for many of us, social media just isn’t fun and we’re not seeing direct business results from it. So is it true? And if you need social media, how do you actually use it to see results?
Whether you’re talking about Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or whatever platforms come out in the future, we’re going to dive into what social media is for, what it can do for your business, and what you should be posting.
Things change very quickly on social media, so it’s hard to look at common advice from even just a year ago and apply it today. But let’s look at a kind of marketing that’s been around forever: TV commercials. Now, remember the last commercial you watched? They weren’t telling you to buy now. They were just trying to make you aware of the brand or product and paint a positive picture of what your life would look like with it. You still have to go to the store and find the product and put it in your cart and buy it, but you aren’t likely to do any of that if you’ve never heard of the brand before. That’s called brand recognition, and it’s what you need to be doing on social media today.
In order to build brand recognition on social media, you need to:
It’s important that you get started with this process early because it takes time to build relationships. You aren’t going to see direct sales like so many people expect, but if you start establishing brand recognition and building trust now, come the holiday season, people will feel more comfortable buying from you.

Every entrepreneur has their own story to tell—but not all of them are professional storytellers themselves! Maria Dismondy is the founder of Cardinal Rule Press, a traditional publishing company that specializes in realistic children’s fiction, stories that children see themselves in and which help them be their best selves.
Maria started out as a writer and author herself, writing ten books of her own before opting for a change of pace. Maria may be done being an author, but she’s telling a new story, all her own—one that empowers a new generation of kids as well as creatives and entrepreneurs alike. No business is successful without a strong enough why, and we know Maria’s journey is going to inspire you to find or remember yours.

We love to bring on people with different backgrounds and voices on the show, and even though AAPI month was last month, we should be celebrating it year round which is why we are proud to be talking to Johanna Porter, the founder of Porter Candle Supply and Kozie Provisions. While the super quick growth that Johanna experienced is definitely not the journey for all product-based business owners, so many parts of her story speak to what it feels like to be an entrepreneur. Whether you’re thinking of starting your business or looking to take the next step, Johanna’s story is sure to make you feel like you’re not alone!

Jaclyn Johnson is one of the most incredible people out there – helping other small business owners grow and scale their businesses and bringing thousands of women together with her company. She’s an entrepreneur and product boss who started both of her companies with nothing but a laptop and an idea. She quickly grew them from self-funded side-projects to multi-million dollar businesses and nationally recognized brands, including the iconic Create & Cultivate.
Jaclyn is the multi-hyphenate entrepreneur. Her parents were both entrepreneurs in completely different fields, and she was always involved in their business in some way. It was in her blood and her upbringing. From a young age, Jaclyn was always willing to work hard and do what it took to see her vision come to life.
Create & Cultivate was an event ahead of its time. She was early to the blogging game and became a name in the influencer space. As she went to influencer events, she had this realization: There’s no reason we can’t throw events that look and feel beautiful for ambitious women outside of the influencer space. On top of that, it was something that was needed—entrepreneurship is lonely, especially for women, and they need a space where they can connect. Create & Cultivate became that for so many of them!
She talks about growing her business, what you need as you’re growing, finding the right community, her experience selling part of Create & Cultivate, and why she invests in female-founded businesses. For anyone at any stage in their business journey, this conversation is going to help motivate and inspire you to take the next step forward!
