Here's the claim: unconditional love is what a relationship looks like with the clutter out of it. Love with nothing attached. No terms, no list of things that have to be true first. And most of us are nowhere close to that.
Episode 199 goes looking for the conditions. Every one of us carries an unwritten rulebook for how the people we love ought to behave. If he loved me, he'd notice. A good son calls on Sunday. We measure people against it. We get genuinely hurt when they break a rule in it. They never signed it. Most of them have never seen a page.
But the deeper piece is this. Your love is not something that gets handed to you. Nobody delivers it, nobody can put it inside you. The love you feel is the love you generate. Which means a condition is really a rule about when you'll allow yourself to feel love. And it means you're the one going without while you wait for somebody to meet terms they don't know exist.
