The Stay or Go Podcast for Women Considering Divorce

There Are Certain People You Can Heal With; Sometimes Your Spouse Isn’t One of Them.

Listen Later

Episode 13: Whew. This one might hit close to home.

In this episode, I’m talking about a truth I’ve learned the hard way—sometimes the person you’re married to is not the person you can actually heal with 💔💡

I get it. If I’d heard this back when I was still married, it would’ve made me want to throw my phone across the room 😅 But it’s something I now know in my bones: just because you can survive in a relationship doesn’t mean it’s a space where your healing can happen.

Here’s what we’re diving into:

✨ Why we unconsciously pick partners who feel like our parents... and how that’s NOT an accident
✨ The difference between trauma bonding vs actual healing 💥
✨ What makes a partner safe to heal with (hint: it’s not “he’s a good guy”)
✨ How some people—like hydrogen peroxide and vinegar—are fine on their own but toxic together 🧪
✨ What to ask yourself to know if your partner is willing to do the work (and what to do if they’re not)
✨ A peek into my own journey with my new partner (yes, the one who sat with me after Home Depot 🥹) and what healing with someone can actually feel like

I’m also sharing real stories from my life and my clients’—including the patterns we replay, how to spot them, and what it looks like when healing finally starts to happen in a secure relationship.

If you’re feeling stuck, confused, or even sad hearing all this... I see you. It’s a lot. And it’s okay to feel it all. But you deserve relationships where you feel safe, seen, and held—not just tolerated.

This episode might give you the language for something your body already knows. 💗

Let’s go there.
