Mark 6; 1 Corinthians 12; John 14:12
In this chapter, we see many things, such as Jesus healing and teaching in his hometown. However, the people of His town had little faith. Jesus gave authority to the disciples to overpower demons, preach to bring people to repentance, and heal the sick.
Jesus is not a selfish God; He gives gifts to all of us to use and put into service at church and in our communities. As 1 Corinthians 12:11 points out, "But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills." The Holy Spirit gives gifts according to His will. That's why in verse 12 of Corinthians 12, it mentions that we are" one body but yet many members" so that we can put our individual gifts into practice for the common good of the church body. As we notice, it is the Holy Spirit that gives us these gifts and therefore authority in them. Jesus did not keep these gifts away, but instead commanded the disciples to use them.
With this being said, Jesus is not afraid or selfish to give us his power and authority over demons, preach, or heal. He said in John 14:12, "I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works." So, expect to do more incredible things in His name, for He is not a selfish God.
