In this chapter, the Bible talks about the birth of Christ and the first people who saw him.
An angel appeared to shepherds who were diligently tending their flock, informing them that Jesus, the Messiah, had been born in Bethlehem. Overwhelmed with awe, they hurried to witness this miraculous event. Their hearts filled with gratitude at the sight of the baby Jesus; they were inspired to speak of the wonderful things of him.
As promised, a devout and righteous man named Simeon was blessed to see the baby Jesus before his passing. This divine encounter took place when Joseph and Mary brought the infant Jesus to the temple. Simeon's heart overflowed with joy as he beheld God's salvation with his own eyes, feeling uplifted and fulfilled.
Finally, a prophetess, widow, and faithful temple servant saw the baby, too, and gave thanks to God.
All three of these groups of people were simple and regular individuals in the eyes of men, but God saw their serving heart first and rewarded them by seeing Jesus firsthand. God wants to honor the humble man of this world by having a relationship with him. Let the world categorize you as simple, but it will be best to let God call you faithful on that one day in heaven, for seeking and following Jesus in this world is the best.
