Wage statistics rarely make for compelling reading, but the figures released by Taiwan's Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics in July have given policymakers something to point at. Average monthly regular wages, which cover base pay and fixed allowances while excluding bonuses and overtime, reached NT$49,216 in May, up 2.95 percent from a year earlier and the second-fastest growth for that month in 27 years. Once inflation is stripped out, real regular wages over the first five months of 2026 rose 1.27 percent, the biggest gain for the period in six years.

薪資統計向來不是什麼吸睛的題材，但行政院主計總處 7 月公布的這組數字，總算讓官方有東西可以拿出來講。5 月經常性薪資平均達新台幣 49,216 元，年增 2.95%,是 27 年來同月份次高的增幅。經常性薪資指的是本薪加上固定津貼，不含獎金與加班費。剔除物價因素後，今年前 5 月實質經常性薪資年增 1.27%，創 6 年來同期的新高。

The engine behind this is not hard to identify. Artificial intelligence has driven demand for Taiwanese electronic components and optoelectronics, and the resulting revenues have filtered through to payslips in the form of overtime, performance bonuses and year-end payouts. DGBAS census official Tan Wen-ling has repeatedly attributed the momentum to AI-related sectors, noting that firms elsewhere have also raised wages simply to hold their ground in a tight labour market.

背後的推力不難理解。人工智慧撐起了台灣電子零組件與光電產業的需求，營收成長最後透過加班費、績效獎金與年終獎金，回到員工的薪資單上。主計總處普查處副處長譚文玲多次把這波動能歸因於 AI 相關產業，同時指出人力吃緊之下，其他產業也只能跟著調薪，才留得住人。

Look past the averages, however, and a less flattering picture emerges. Because a handful of very high earners can skew the mean, the median is the more honest gauge: it stood at NT$39,426 in May, roughly NT$10,000 below the average. In 2025, 69.74 percent of employees earned below the average monthly salary, the highest proportion on record and up from 66.8 percent five years earlier. Accommodation workers averaged NT$34,961 a month; those in food services, NT$36,709.

不過只要跳過平均數往下看，畫面就沒那麼好看了。少數高薪者足以把平均值拉高，中位數才是比較誠實的指標：5 月經常性薪資中位數為 39,426 元，比平均值低了將近 1 萬元。2025 年有 69.74% 的受僱者薪水低於平均月薪，比例創歷年新高，5 年前是 66.8%。住宿業員工月薪平均 34,961 元，餐飲業 36,709 元。

The gap looks structural rather than temporary. Electronic components posted average annual pay of NT$1.33 million last year, with finance and insurance close behind, while traditional service industries have all but stalled. Real total wages, which include bonuses, grew 1.37 percent in the first five months, down from 1.67 percent a year earlier, partly because some firms pushed Dragon Boat Festival bonuses into June. Tan has cautioned that energy prices could yet feed into inflation, and whether real pay keeps rising depends on wages outpacing prices.

這道落差看起來是結構性的，而非一時現象。去年電子零組件業平均年薪 133 萬元，金融保險業緊追在後，傳統服務業卻幾乎原地踏步。含獎金在內的實質總薪資，前 5 月成長 1.37%，低於去年同期的 1.67%，部分原因是有些企業把端午獎金遞延到 6 月才發。譚文玲也提醒，能源價格後續仍可能反映到物價上，實質薪資能不能繼續成長，還是要看加薪速度追不追得上通膨。

一篇英文新聞讀完了,每個字都認識,叫你轉述給別人聽,你卻支支吾吾說不出個所以然?這集John老師和阿鍵老師找了一本1940年出版、快80歲的老書出來聊,書名很直白——《如何閱讀一本書》。老書不代表過時,反而拆穿了一個大家都以為自己會、其實根本不會的能力:讀。

一本教你「怎麼讀書」的書,葫蘆裡賣什麼藥?

作者Mortimer Adler不是隨便寫寫,他是哲學家、教育者,長年參與《大英百科全書》的編輯工作,某種程度上就是維基百科出現之前的維基百科主編。1972年修訂版找來Charles Van Doren加入,兩人一起把這本書打磨成後來大家熟知的經典版本。

阿鍵老師在節目裡順便科普了一個單字:Wikipedia其實是從Encyclopedia變出來的字。骨灰級學習者應該都有印象,小時候翻百科全書要先查另一本索引書,才知道自己要的資料藏在哪一冊裡,不像現在打開網頁search就有,現代人是真的幸福。

唸得出聲音,不代表你真的讀懂了

Adler把閱讀分成好幾個層次,第一層叫Elementary Reading,基礎閱讀。聽起來很簡單,但John老師分享了一段自己在修道院唸書時的糗事:老師要他讀完一段故事,他讀得很流暢,字也都認得,結果修女突然要他轉述Peter做了什麼事,他當場愣住,腦袋一片空白。

問題出在哪?他把每個字的發音都唸出來了,卻沒有在腦中把句子組織成畫面、變成一個故事。這就是Elementary Reading的陷阱——你以為自己在read,其實只是嘴巴在發音而已。真正的基礎閱讀,是讀完一句話,腦中要能浮現對應的情境。

從檢視到分析,閱讀原來分這麼多關卡

再往上一層是Inspectional Reading,檢視閱讀,也就是快速skim過一遍,抓出文章大概在講什麼,腦中先準備好幾個問題,邊讀邊找答案。再上去是Analytical Reading,分析閱讀,這時候不只要知道文章寫了什麼,還要一直問為什麼——為什麼這個人這樣做,為什麼這個國家會變成這樣。阿鍵老師說他讀到喜歡的動物、生物類主題,自然而然就會讀到分析層次;但遇到不熟的題材,可能就停在基礎層次,先搞懂大概意思就好。

John老師則是看時間決定要讀到哪個層次:只有15分鐘,做到Analytical差不多就夠了,再深入下去太費腦力,精神消耗完還要花時間恢復。真的有一小時空檔,才會進到Syntopical Reading,主題閱讀——把讀過的東西跟之前看過的資料互相比對、重新組織,這通常是寫論文、做研究才會用到的功夫。時間就是本錢,這句話放在閱讀策略上一樣成立。

這套方法怎麼套進你的英文學習

這幾個層次聽起來學術,其實早就藏在15Mins的內容設計裡。每一則國際時事跟讀前面的三個highlights,就是幫你先建立一個mental picture,對應到Elementary Reading的預先處理;先聽過一遍抓故事走向,就是Inspectional;讀完之後試著把整個故事講給別人聽,或是問自己為什麼這個事件會發生,就是進入Analytical。

阿鍵老師提醒,inspectional階段本來就不需要每個字都懂,能抓到故事大概方向就算合格,這也是shadowing一直在強調的重點。竹科工程師開車上班那段路,或是台北捷運通勤兩站的時間,剛好聽完一集精讀story,不用坐在書桌前硬K兩小時,一樣能練到英文閱讀跟英文跟讀的功夫。

Memory prices have surged sharply throughout 2026. Research firm TrendForce reported that DRAM contract prices climbed roughly 90 percent quarter-over-quarter in the first quarter alone, with consumer modules such as LPDDR5X rising nearly 89 percent in the second. The driver is not a supply disruption but a deliberate reallocation of capacity: memory makers are prioritizing high-margin AI products, leaving conventional DRAM structurally undersupplied even as total industry revenue climbs to record levels.

2026年以來，記憶體價格漲勢兇猛。研究機構TrendForce指出，光是第一季，DRAM合約價就較前一季上漲約90%，LPDDR5X等消費端模組到了第二季也漲了近89%。推升價格的主因並非供應斷鏈，而是廠商刻意調配產能：記憶體業者把產能優先留給毛利較高的AI產品，所以即便整體產業營收衝上新高，一般DRAM仍陷入結構性供給不足。

That imbalance has turned into a windfall for Micron Technology, one of the world's three dominant memory suppliers. The company's fiscal third-quarter revenue, released in late June, more than quadrupled year-over-year to $41.46 billion, while gross margin jumped to 84.9 percent from 39 percent a year earlier. Net income reached $28.24 billion, against just $1.89 billion in the same quarter last year. Shares surged roughly 15 percent in after-hours trading, briefly lifting Micron's market value above both Meta and Tesla, while management guided for about $50 billion in revenue next quarter, citing sold-out high-bandwidth memory.

這樣的供需失衡，反倒讓全球三大記憶體供應商之一的美光大幅進帳。美光六月下旬公布財報，第三會計季營收年增逾四倍，達414.6億美元，毛利率也從一年前的39%跳升至84.9%。淨利達282.4億美元，去年同期僅18.9億美元。財報一出，美光股價在盤後交易一度大漲約15%，市值短暫超車Meta與特斯拉；公司並看好下一季營收上看500億美元，並提到高頻寬記憶體（HBM）早已被搶購一空。

The earnings beat landed hours after Apple announced price increases across its Mac, iPad, Apple TV, HomePod, and Vision Pro lines, a move that sent its stock down more than 6 percent and erased roughly $265 billion in market value. Speaking to The Wall Street Journal after Micron's results, chief business officer Sumit Sadana offered a pointed response. Without naming Apple directly, he suggested that certain large customers had exploited the industry's 2023 downturn to demand rock-bottom prices, straining supplier margins at the exact moment capital was needed to expand capacity. "A lot of the industry investments got shut down in 2023 because of really poor pricing and really poor margins," he said.

Samsung's memory division warned in late April that the supply gap would widen further through 2027, a view echoed by SK Hynix days earlier. Together with Micron, the two Korean firms control more than 90 percent of the global DRAM market. TrendForce projects total memory revenue will grow from $551.6 billion in 2026 to $842.7 billion in 2027, suggesting the current tightness has further to run.

茶水間聊天,你都聊什麼?天氣太熱、昨晚球賽,還是老闆又在亂?這集John老師和阿鍵老師幫大家整理這兩週最適合拿來開場的話題,從世足黑馬到AI模型無預警下架,通勤時間聽完,明天茶水間就有話題了。

世足黑馬,連巨石強生都來代言

維德角(Cape Verde Islands),人口只有五十萬,這次卻打進世足十六強,跟西班牙踢平。故事最感人的地方不是踢平西班牙,而是他們四十歲的門將,賽後記者會說了一句「I miss my mother」,結果全世界開始幫他找媽媽、幫媽媽買機票。

原來不是沒有錢,是維德角跟美國沒有簽證互惠關係,辦簽證要押金又要時間,家人根本來不及。人口小不代表進不了四強,以前小國進世足就是陪榜,這次維德角直接變成大家心中的underdog,代言人甚至換成巨石強生。

茶水間要聊這個超好用,因為足球是全世界共同語言,就算同事不看球也大概聽過。你可以問對方:Which team are you rooting for? 是支持哪一隊;如果對方有下注,就問 Which team did you put your money on?,聊開了同事自然會一直講下去。

Claude Fable上架三天就被要求下架,為什麼?

這則是這兩週AI界最大條的新聞。Anthropic推出目前最強的兩個模型,Claude Mythos跟Claude Fable,結果Mythos甚至被稱為「史上限制最少的模型」——因為限制少,反而容易被拿去鑽security漏洞。

上架才三天,美國政府就以出口管制為由要求下架,擔心被其他國家拿去蒸餾、複製出自己的模型。這也是為什麼最近大家會覺得,各家AI好像突然放慢腳步、沒有新模型狂推——不是技術卡關,是政府開始要求release前先審查。7月初這兩個模型才又重新開放。

以後除了比token價格,AI廠商還要多考慮一個變數:跟國家安全有沒有關係。這件事會怎麼發展,值得繼續追。竹科工程師平常在用AI工具的,這則新聞尤其該聽一下,以後這種review恐怕會變常態。

匹克球正式殺進台灣,連運動白癡都能打

Pickleball去年還只在國外紅,今年在台灣正式起飛。這運動最大的優點是門檻低——場地比網球小,不用一直左右衝刺,體能普通的人也能上場,還可以四個人一起玩,邊打邊嘴砲。

在美國推廣這運動的是網球球王球后Andre Agassi跟Steffi Graf,因為不是每個人都訂得到網球場。現在台灣有場館直接把一個網球場改成三個匹克球場,場地一多,大家就更容易約。甚至有室內場館還能邊喝雞尾酒邊打球,根本是為社恐上班族量身打造——說是去運動,其實比較像去交朋友。約同事下班打一場,絕對比約去健身房容易成功。

巴黎羅浮宮提早關門,溺水死亡人數暴增

歐洲熱浪一年比一年誇張,今年光西班牙就有兩千人因熱浪過世,比去年的一千人整整多一倍。巴黎更直接把艾菲爾鐵塔、羅浮宮改成白天提早關門,有法國人建議乾脆改成夜間開放,只是館方嫌加班費太貴,遲遲不願意改。

最誇張的是死因,大家可能猜脫水,但其實暴增最多的是溺水——法國人平常不太裝冷氣,天氣一熱大家全跳進運河消暑,結果不小心溺斃的人數大幅增加,連巴黎人自己都嚇一跳。

想跟同事聊這個,可以問一句:Did you bring your umbrella out?,現在出門真的要帶洋傘。或者問對方知不知道 Paris had to close down their famous landmarks during this season,保證能聊上幾句。

順帶一提,這兩週還有MIT研發出可以自己變軟變硬的Y型拉鏈,未來可能用在機器人腳掌跟醫療器材上;金曲獎則是蔡依林時隔多年再度封后,再加上兩位資深歌手同年拿獎,被說是一波「文藝復興」;韓國隊小組賽表現不如預期,總統親自出面關切教練去留;台灣近海也發現了兩個新物種,其中一個是不到半公分的海蛞蝓寄生蟲,連牠的宿主都是新物種。細節都在VIP內容裡,這裡先幫大家畫重點。
