It was a lighter week for the Gomers, and they have a lot to say about it – most of it good. With the marathon coming up fast, it’s a nice thing to have a good week once in a while! And since they had a little time to breathe, the guys used the time to actually LEARN a thing or two about running. Wow! Of course, their Gomer’s Tips could never be found in any book. Unless that book is made up entirely of Band-Aid/Nipple tips. Er, nipple HINTS. Yeah, that’s better.
And now that the marathon is nigh, we’re getting back to the basics: Gomer’s Tips, two new Songs to Run To, Listener Feedback, Week in Review, and the start of a new Runner’s Corner series. Enjoy, and Happy Running!
This week’s Monday Survey: What are your marathon (or any long race) regrets? What do you wish you’d done differently? We want to know, so we can make good choices as our marathon approaches!
“You’re only one run away from a good run.” That’s Gomer1’s theory, and Gomer2 hopes it’s true, because it was brutal for him this week. But it makes for good podcast material, right? Join the guys as they process what it means when one of them has a good week and the other, well, DOESN’T. Of course, it’s not all doom and gloom. When it gets that way, all the guys have to do is argue about whether or not Avatar is actually any good, and everything gets back to normal.
Plus, the Gomers reveal their initial thoughts and plans for Running for a Cause in the Runner’s Corner, get back to their jazz roots in Songs to Run To, and talk cold weather and cold leftovers in Listener Feedback. Happy Running!
Monday Survey this week: Do you have any experience with Running for a Cause? Any advice for us? Did it make your running more worthwhile? Tell us your story!
It’s the one-year anniversary of the Gomers’ Half Marathon, and they celebrate by – how else? – running 13 miles without stopping. It was the longest run in a year for both of them, and you’ll have to tune in to hear how it went. SPOILER ALERT: It went surprisingly well.
Also, don’t miss the return of Gomers’ Tips of the Week, with cold-weather musings, leftovers advice, and a little celebrity impression that ends up taking on a sick life of its own.
Plus all the regular features: Week in Review, Listener Feedback, the Monday Survey, and two new Songs to Run To. Happy Running!
This Week’s Survey: What are your cold-weather running tips? AND/OR How do you kick up your leftovers? Both good questions, huh?
And here’s the link for the Haiti orphanage Anthony was talking about: thejourneycommunity. Go and donate to help a great cause!
It’s a new year, and the Gomers are trying to get back into the swing of things after a long holiday season – with mixed results. Join them as they talk about their annual training run together, getting back on the bandwagon after travel and Christmas, and running in the single digits, through exotic cities, with screaming knee pain, and while wearing parkas.
And in non-running-related, is it possible to maintain a healthy marriage while playing New Super Mario Wii?
This week’s Monday Survey is all about training schedules: Do you have one? How closely do you follow it? Does splitting a long run into two chunks count? Happy Running!
It’s the second Two Gomers Special: Two Gomers Get Resolute! The guys are visited by three ghosts: Past, Present, and Future…well, not really, but they talk about those things in relation to their running journey.
Plus, we FINALLY discuss the controversial “Plodders” article from the New York Times…and Steven gets a little heated about it. You don’t want to miss that.
So download while the downloadin’s good! Just click the first button to donate (suggested donation: $2.99) to the Two Gomers, and the second to download the New Year’s Special (right click on the DOWNLOAD button and select “Save target as…” or “Download Linked File”). If you donate and include your email, you’ll get a link from us within 48 hours for a special video “thank-you” from the Gomers, recorded at Culver’s, plus your name will be entered into a drawing for a free Two Gomers Tee or Tech shirt. Thanks in advance! Happy Running!
Oh, and don’t forget this week’s Monday Survey: What are your New Years Resolutions?
Here’s one more taste of Christmas before you put that tree away – the second Gomer Rewind! This one is holiday-themed, as the Gomers take a look back at their favorite moments from last year’s Christmas episodes. It’s everything you’d expect – bemoaning snow-runs, waxing nostalgic, and trying not to eat like complete idiots. Plus a couple surprises – their most famous fan ever, and the most ridiculous Runner’s Corner ever recorded in the history of man. Oh, and a celebrity guest you will not want to miss!
Don’t forget our second Two Gomers Special, arriving New Year’s Day! Happy Running!
Here it is, the final of three in this year’s series of Christmas episodes. It’s sad, but the Gomers press on, packing in every tiny Christmas-related tidbit they can in between updating the Gomernation on how the marathon-training is going. Which is, incidentally, pretty well.
Join the Gomers as they relate tales of running both in the snow and 80 degree weather, watching classic Christmas movies, and responding to that many-layered question: “Why are you running a marathon? You must be crazy!”
Well, maybe they are, but just wait till you hear their dissertations on the links between Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation, and The Nutcracker and Home Alone. THEN tell them they’re crazy.
This week’s Survey: What are your New Years Resolutions? And don’t forget, the Christmas Gomer Rewind is next week, followed by the second Gomer Special: Two Gomers Get Resolute. Happy Christmas, and Happy Running!
The Gomers are really getting into the Christmas spirit now, with more discussions about food, music, and movies both classic (White Christmas) and kind of a stretch (The Godfather). Oh, and they ran last week, too. Kind of. Winter has decended upon gomer2, and gomer1 does his best to keep him motivated, even though all Steven’s doing is sitting around inside while the snow dumps outside, watching The Biggest Loser finale and eating chips.
They won’t let it get them down, though. Not with all the regular features to get to, like Week in Review, two new Songs to Run To, the Christmas Corner, Listener Feedback, an all-new Monday Survey…and a True Gomer Confession that’s kind of a game-changer. Happy Holidays, and Happy Running!
It’s the first of three Christmas Episodes, and the Gomers couldn’t be more excited. But they’ve also got a lot of catching up to do – both ran Turkey Trots over Thanksgiving, and Anthony ran ANOTHER race after that. That’s right, three races total in one week. All in the name of being able to eat whatever the heck they wanted.
All the regular fixins (Week in Review, Listener Feedback, Eat and Run, Songs to Run To, Monday Survey) and something special thrown in (Christmas Corner) make for an episode that will get you into the holiday spirit, guaranteed.
This week’s survey: We’re trying to assemble the Ultimate Runner’s Christmas List. What are you asking for this Christmas to help you in your running endeavors? The Gomers wanna know!
Happy (Christmas) Running!
