Cryptocurrency, also referred to as "crypto", is a form of digital currency that has the potential to disrupt the traditional form of money.  Unlike paper currencies, such as the U.S. dollar, a cryptocurrency is created and secured through encrypted data strings that are maintained by a peer-to-peer network called a blockchain.  Through this secure ledger of transactions, cryptocurrencies are decentralized and are not issued by governments or other financial institutions.   Popular cryptocurrencies include Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin, and Monero.   In this episode I dive deeper into the world of cryptocurrencies and blockchains with Mauricio Magaldi, Global Head of Strategy for Crypto at 11:FS .  We discuss how this new form of currency was created and the potential it has to transform finance as we know it.
