He was formerly provost and Andrew Mutch Distinguished Professor of Theology at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. He is the author of Progressive and Conservative Religious Ideologies, Identity and Idolatry, and The Fabric of Theology.
