Introducing to you a very extraordinary woman – Miriam Lancewood.  Nine years ago Miriam and her husband Peter decided to give up all of their worldly belongings and move into the New Zealand wilderness with nothing but a tent and bow and arrow. Together they wanted to learn how to hunt & survive in nature and discover what happens to the mind and body when you take away all comforts and live wildly amongst nature on earth.  They live simply in a tent or hut and survive by hunting wild animals, foraging edible plants and using minimal supplies.

 This quote sums Miriam up perfectly: ‘My life is free, random and spontaneous. This in itself creates enormous energy and clarity in body and mind.’

Dr Tony Fernando; a kaleidoscope of activity and a strong advocate of rest. He is an is an academic, award-winning teacher, cellist, cheap-eats foodie, Buddhist monk and reluctant ocean swimmer. Tony Fernando is a psychiatrist, sleep specialist, senior lecturer in psychological medicine at the University of Auckland, and compassion specialist who was temporarily ordained as a Buddhist monk.

Toni Street is a New Zealand broadcaster and national treasure who has been a regular on television and radio for over a decade. Toni kept the country up to date with sport and current events while she reported for or presented Seven Sharp,  Breakfast and One News. He is a retired former Muay Thai Champion, having fought nationally and internationally, with 5 new Zealand titles, a New Zealand Four man Title and a South Pacific title collected over his Thaiboxing career. With over 25 years in martial arts, Richie is now a trainer, having helped some of New Zealand's most accomplished fighters achieve their goals.

 Grant Schofield is Professor of Public Health, and Director of the Human Potential Centre at AUT Millennium.  His research and teaching interests range from understanding and improving lifestyle behaviours such as sleep, nutrition, and physical activity, to wellbeing epidemiology and human performance.  He maintains a "multi fluency” across psychology, physiology, public health, epidemiology, and human performance.

Professor Schofield takes a "think outside the box" approach to his work in tackling the big health problems of our times.  He is known for challenging current beliefs in his field. His current project base and large group of talented postgraduate thesis students show an exciting range of these challenges.

Dr Caryn Zinn is a dietitian and academic at AUT. Her research and clinical practice focuses on whole food amidst a holistic lifestyle approach to health. She has co-authored 4 books as part of the What The Fat? Series.

To say that Grant and Caryn know their stuff is a bit of an understatement.
