Mind, body, and function. How OT in male pelvic health concerns and sexual dysfunction can get you back to doing the things that are meaningful to you.
Lainie is a Licensed Occupational Therapist who specializes in pelvic health. She embodies a holistic approach to care and considers the whole person to help them get back to what is meaningful in their life. Her goal is to help people connect with and regain function and confidence in their own bodies, especially “down there”. Lainie lives in Asheville with her husband and chocolate lab, Rio. She enjoys biking, baking, and reading and is accepting new patients at www.drsusieg.com
We cover topics like:
1:37 What is occupational therapy (OT) 4:00 OT adaptations for enhancing sexual experiences 7:10 Vibration sex toys for men 10:00 Hands-free and accessible sex toys 11:00 Positions and props for enhancing sexual experiences 12:01 Sexual health accessibility with the Bump’n Joystick 15:17 The best beginner sex toy
The main concerns that occupational therapy in our clinic helps men with are pooping, peeing, and sex. In our clinic, occupational therapy plays a role in assessing, educating, treating, and creating modifications/adaptations for various conditions and disabilities; from hip joint replacement therapy to living life with arthritis, there is a range of physical and emotional challenges that Occupational Therapists can help with.
To help you get back to engaging with life, Occupational Therapists discuss patterns of your pain to identify when your pain is lowest, positions or ways of doing things, and suggest and help you explore adaptive tools. No matter what the solution, Occupational Therapists stick with you until you’ve figured something out, something that can feel rare in the medical. With an OT, you know you have someone on your side always ready to figure it out with you.
Lainie walks us through examples and ways that she’d help someone who is having difficulties giving a handjob.
