Addie Bracy holds a Master’s Degree in Sport and Performance Psychology and has been an elite runner for a long time. She has won three USATF National Championships and has been selected to compete internationally on 10 USA teams. In 2017, she was a scoring member of Team USA's Gold Medal team at the World Championships for Mountain Running.
As a coach over the last 10 years, Addie has worked with athletes at the high school, collegiate, and post collegiate levels. She is a founding member of https://www.strivementalperformance.com/ and https://www.instagram.com/_out_run/ which is a community created to empower and connect LGBTQ+ individuals within the running community.
Addie and I discuss many things. We focus around defining oneself through sport and the dangerous around conflating athletic performance with personal identity. On the addictions sports can bring on, including struggling with body image and eating disorders. We touch on her journey and how redefining "why" she was running and racing changed her relationship with the sport she loves and ultimately her view on what "success" is in athletics.
Addie is a great human and I am grateful she spent an hour with me discussing so much.
I hope you all enjoy!
