Radioactive iodine and radiofrequency ablation are two thyroid treatment options that are sometimes confused but are actually quite different. Where radioactive iodine involves the destruction of the cells of the thyroid gland, radiofrequency ablation involves shrinking thyroid nodules and, in some cases, can save the thyroid.
