Is there ever a good time to share your mommy issues story? In this episode, we are going to go over eliminating the shame of growing up in a toxic relationship with your mother and sharing it with others.
For so many years I would rather chew on wood (not really) than explain my childhood with my mom TO ANYONE! Now that I have written a book about it, it usually becomes a topic of conversation at weddings, funerals, conferences, church, and pretty much anywhere I go! However, I would tell you that when I am out of town and no one knows about me, I vet people out as to how much information I share about my past or my family. So how do you know?
Let’s go over some of these questions today:
Learn appropriate boundaries around your story. It’s perfectly okay to keep quiet and feel safe. Don’t let anyone shame you with their shock or awe. You are a thriver, not just a survivor! And remember, everyone has “crazy” in their family.
Do you need to learn how to temper your story? What are specific things you can say without revealing all?
