A lot of cancer patients have already lost before treatments even begin.

Ivelisse Page had an interesting journey that led her to this realization.

Ivelisse was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer at the age of 37. Belonging to a family with a history of this disease, she diligently takes regular colonoscopies, she eats organic and gets loads of exercise. She’s healthy as can be!

Until one summer, Ivelisse’s husband noticed she’d been more and more regular 3-hr afternoon naps. They started thinking it was more than fatigue from work.

Ivelisse was brought to a hospital where they found she was severely anemic. Her condition was worthy of getting sent to the OR because her organs could fail at any moment. Doctors ran all relevant tests to her condition. Results came back normal. Last thing they could think of was to rule out cancer through another colonoscopy – and in the process of ruling it out, they found the cancer.

Cancer alone is enough to overwhelm the mind. Add data, results, reports, processes, and treatments to the mix and it’s easy to lose your way along the path towards healing.

Thankfully, Ivelisse had a great support group – her husband who’s in the medical field, her oncologist, family and friends – all there give her love and hope.

And with that love and hope, Ivelisse beat the odds of 8% survival rate, and is completely cancer-free since December 2008. Since then, Ivelisse and her husband have Co-Founded Believe Big, a non-profit organization that aims to bridge the gap between traditional and complimentary medicine in the fight against cancer.
