In today's episode, I'm joined by therapist, author, and speaker Ruth Fearnow to explore the concept of therapeutic mindfulness. Ruth sheds light on how individuals may unintentionally use mindfulness or meditation to avoid confronting trauma, rather than utilizing them as tools for growth. She eloquently explains the pitfalls of emotional avoidance, emphasizing the potential long-term harm it can inflict on daily choices. Ruth guides us through cultivating non-judgmental focused attention and introduces the power of "allowing phrases" to help us use mindfulness as a means of sitting with, rather than evading, our emotions. Join us for a profound exploration of therapeutic mindfulness and its transformative potential.

In this episode, we delve into the fascinating world of mudras and yoga practices with our special guest, Ram Jain, a seasoned expert in the field. Born into a Jain family in India, where yoga has been a way of life for five generations, Ram brings a wealth of knowledge to the discussion.
The episode kicks off by exploring the world of mudras, which are intricate hand positions used to channel subtle energies within the body. Ram Jain sheds light on how these positions help in adjusting the five elements present in our bodies.
Ram Jain's formal yoga education commenced at the age of eight in a traditional Vedic school. There, he delved into the study of ancient scriptures, yoga, and Sanskrit. With 34 years on the path of yoga and over 23 years of teaching experience, Ram has become a beacon in the yoga community. Since 2009, more than 12,000 yoga teachers have graduated from his yoga ashrams in India, the Netherlands, and their online academy.

Today I’m doing something a little different on the show. A few weeks ago, I was a guest on an amazing radio show called Postcards to the Universe with Melisa Caprio and she was kind enough to share the recording with me. It’s much too long to play here, so I’ve edited together some bits of the first part where we talk about the root, sacral, solar plexus, and heart chakras, how they affect our day-to-day lives, our physical and emotional well-being, play a part in the manifesting and creation process, and why imbalances can appear.
Here's a link to the full episode: Postcards to the Universe Check out all of Melisa's episodes wherever you get your podcasts!
