In the first week of the Debating Chinese politics, Teng Biao and Andrew Nathan invited Perry Link and Chen Jun to debate whether democracy is suitable for China. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on China's current political structure, historical traditions, and the challenges that Chinese society may face in the face of democratic reform. They will elaborate on their respective views, analyze the potential pros and cons of democracy for China, and explore the future direction of China's politics. The purpose of this debate is to stimulate rational thinking on China's political system and enhance understanding of the applicability of democracy in different cultural contexts.
