We humans hate being wrong. And we love being right. Especially when our thought, idea and/or belief is intertwined with our identity; our sense of self. In this scenario, when you attack my belief or ideology, you attack me and the platform from where I see, experience and understand the world. Being wrong, especially about something we've thought or believed for decades, is f**king terrifying for us, so we (can) shut ourselves down to any message or belief that doesn't endorse, support or align with, our own. And in a world where we all get things wrong, the self-righteous, arrogant, echo-chamber approach, doesn't work.
