150. Scheduling Your Optimal Health

Listen Later

Your schedule impacts your optimal health. Are you using your time optimally? Do you find time each day to meet all the requirements for optimal health? By taking control of your schedule and applying the 3-2-1 Strategy, you’re taking steps to achieve optimal health.

How to Tell If We Aren’t Scheduling for Optimal Health

  1. We are over-functioning
  2. We start resenting, and it takes us out of the moment
  3. We aren’t communicating effectively

Plan Your Optimal Schedule

Take some time to see where your time is going. Actually, sit down and detail out your schedule – where is your time going? Are you happy with what this looks like? Ask yourself how to change your schedule to align more optimally with your health goals.

It can be difficult even to see the obstacles to your optimal schedule, but taking the time to look out for them is a game-changer. I recommend building more space in your schedule to increase your energy, as this will improve your health.

Sometimes, we’re not even sure what our schedule blind spots are. Not being aware of all the things that we, ourselves, are responsible for and taking on things that we need to manage for other people are some of the bigger ones to watch out for. They can cause more difficulties in your executive functioning.

The 3-2-1 Strategy for Optimal Health

Some of us have higher control of our executive functioning than others, but there is no better. All you need to know is how you can use your executive functioning to your benefit. It’s also vital that you stay in the moment, as this means we have to meet ourselves where we are – letting go of restlessness, anxiety, and overwhelm.

Taking the time each day to meet all the components of optimal health, including your physical, mental, and social health is a great step to taking control of your schedule. In fact, getting in your interpersonal communication is one of the best things you can do – your social health is so important.

I recommend The 3-2-1 Strategy to take back control of your schedule. What are the THREE things that have to get done today? What are TWO things that you want to do today? What is ONE thing you’re willing to leave on the to-do list? Use these questions to figure out your priorities. The rest doesn’t matter as much.

How have you implemented the 3-2-1 Strategy to optimize your schedule? In what ways will you change your schedule for optimal health? Let me know in the comments on the episode page.

Quotes

“Our optimal health has everything to do with our ability to schedule.” [5:19]

“Are you spending the time that you need to make a schedule for yourself every day? Most of us don’t.” [14:25]

“By being in the moment, we can lessen anxiety. By being in the moment, we can lessen restlessness. By being in the moment, we can lessen overwhelm. By being in the moment, we can lessen just about anything because we have to be present and in the moment and able to meet ourselves where we are.” [17:27]

“The goal is for us to do just a little bit towards each portion of our optimal health every single day. Think about what is important for you and what helps you feel grounded.” [25:22]

“I want you to take a good, hard look at how you’re approaching your schedule because it will impact optimal health. If we can stay in a space where we are less overwhelmed, we will have more room to really give ourselves the care that we need.” [30:10]
