Jimmy talked to Bob Rowe at the APTA Media center at the NEXT conference in Boston Massachusetts. The interview was crashed by 95 year old Geneva Johnson the day after her birthday.  Bob talked about his role on the APTA board of directors, how the board affects the profession, even directly affecting patients even though they might not be touching patients directly and what is coming for the APTA on the horizon.

Dr. Bob Rowe is the Director of Brooks IHL at Brooks Rehabilitation located in Jacksonville, FL. In addition to developing and managing the current and future residency/fellowship programs within Brooks Rehabilitation, he assists in coordinating and promoting professional development opportunities for the Brooks clinical staff.

Dr. Rowe received his PT degree at LSUHSC in 1985 and his Master of Health Science in PT in 1994 at LSUHSC. He completed an Orthopaedic Manual PT Fellowship through the Ola Grimsby Institute (OGI) in 1999 and in 2001 completed his Doctor of Manual Therapy degree through the OGI. In May 2007,

Dr. Rowe completed his t-DPT through MGH IHP and has served as the President of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT).

He began a four year term on the APTA American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) in July 2008 and served as the Chair of the Orthopaedic Section’s Practice Committee from 2004-2010.

In 2009 he completed 5 years of service as an appointed member to the APTA Advisory Panel on Practice and served as the Chair for the final year. Dr. Rowe has served on the APTA Manipulation Task Force since 2001 and served on the APTA POPTS Task Force from 2004-2007.

He has served on the FPTA Board of Directors as a Regional Director (representing the Northern District) from 2006 to 2010 and since 2010 has served as the Speaker to the FPTA Assembly of Representatives. Dr. Rowe has served within the APTA House of Delegates for fourteen consecutive years representing Louisiana as a Chapter Delegate from 2000-2003, he served as the Orthopaedic Section Delegate from 2004-2009, and as a Delegate representing the FPTA since 2010.
